I think he's suggesting that Jody himself wrote the piece.

People can rag on him but those of us that have been reading his stuff since the mid 70's know he is core and deserving of this award.

Like him or not he races motorcycles still. Unlike some Motocross "test riders". I like that.

I didn’t catch who the award was from—anyone know? Have loved his writing since the ‘70s, he’s earned this.

I don't agree with everything he says or even the tests MXA puts out but they are a good starting point to try and evaluate a new bike purchase. Jody has been at it a long time. The longer we live the more crotchety we all get. He is hard core MX and still races regularly. Give credit where credit is due. Been an MXA subscriber for many decades. I will continue to be as long as the vibe over there stays the same.

2018 EDISON DYE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD should be a sticky on every media outlets website. Anyone find it strange (borderline pathetic) that it is not?

This website (along with racerx, transworld, pulp, etc) would not even exist if not for Jody Wiesel's 40yrs of work helping to grow this sport. Motocross Action magazine is the reason many of us fell in love with this sport and past it on to the current generation of riders. Do you really think anyone will ever look back and say......a thread on vitalmx is the reason I started riding lol?

Give credit where credit is due folks. If you don't understand take the time to research.

MXA changed my entire life and the lives of my children. Jody Wiesel deserves more accolades than any rider for his contributions.

And......he still rides and races. That is cred in my book.

Dirtbike and MXA have the best reviews because they actually tell you about stuff they break and durability of the bikes. That's a HUGE part of owning a bike that many reviews don't talk about.

Jody and MXA get a lot of crap on here but there is no one more core than Jody. The only time I ever spoke to Jody was back in 1987 at the the Trans Cal or Golden State (I can't remember which) at Adelanto. The one where Johnson punched Liechen in the face. It was poring down rain. I was standing out in the middle of the track and Jody was standing next to me. I looked over at him and said something like "why are we out here" and he simply replied "because we love MX". That's all we said to each other but I never forgot it.

That was a very well done tribute to a very deserving individual. MXA subscriber since 1986. I feel like I know Jody, but I donot. MXA is written for the common man that races.....

He certainly deserves it. Been an avid reader/fan since the first issue. Any time I read the shit he takes on here I just shake my head and wonder if the "shit talkers" have done even 5% of what Jody has for this sport. Congratulations Jody--job well done.

Yeah I started with Popular Cycling and then got hooked on Bazzer and Motocross Cat. Then Jody came along and brought Louella. Subscribed for many years before finally giving it up. I can't go into a Wal Mart without checking the magazine rack for MXA. If they have it, there goes at least ten minutes. Tongue

Jody would get a lot more respect here if he wasn't so self important. People don't want to give credit to someone who constantly gives it to themself.

I Subscribed to All the Magazines from 1989 to About 2004
And saved them all , then through a couple moves I decided I was never gonna look at them again and why am I carrying around these heavy boxes , and lightened the load , and now I'm kinda sad about it and wish I still had them
In the early 90's i would spend hours and hours reading them , pre computer days
Or at least pre masses on the computer days lol

Is it at all possible that the people on here that don't respect what Jody has done for Moto are just clueless asshats that are Johnny come lately's to the Moto scene??? Also, I need to ask you a question--- the way you worded your observation leads me to believe that you must know him personally. How long have you known him?
The point is, even if you don't like a guy "personally" for whatever reason, that doesn't mean you can't respect what he has meant to this sport for the past 40+ years.

The article says a conservative 2000. That seems like the low end for a guy who's been at it for 50 years.
