this could be interesting. he showed some great speed the first half at the daytona round this year. he could be a spoiler for a podium.

If he's top 5 in points, I wonder if Honda will let him keep going?

Yup, I wouldnt mind betting on a top 5 each round...even tho Daytona is more an outdoorsie track I think he has the smarts to do ok

You know that DNQ stands for Did Not Qualify right? I'm pretty sure J-Mart won't have any trouble qualifying and making mains events in the 250 class.

That is some good news, as evidenced by the above Vitard comments he is a threat for great results.

I still think the 250 is just not the right bike for some riders.

Top 5s at A1, Houston or A2, would be extremely exceptional. Especially after his Bercy results.

Daytona is a different animal. With his holeshot and the one lined track he was able to gap the chasing pack. I don't see that happening in a stadium. Maybe he gets a top 5 in a moto at the triple header at A2.

As far as East Coast he is a threat for wins and if he can mitigate the big mistake he will be in title contention.

J-Mart has failed to qualify for several 250 main events across his different years. I think he knew what he meant.

His offseason racing didn't give hint that he would podium with 450.

Jmart needs to make it happen this year in sx by showing some speed on the 450 and winning in the 250 class. Otherwise he won't get a good offer for 19 450s.

Naw, if he's riding that well it's even better to have him go for the title on the new bike. That's what Honda wants, a title on the new CRF250R...

What if he's holding the red plate? Wink
While unlikely, three podiums isn't impossible and it could very well lead to a red plate.

Why have him race the 450 at all?? Nothing to gain and everything to lose if he crashes and gets hurt. Makes zero sense to me.

Because he wants to race it! It’s part of his deal!

Believe me, I'm pumped to see him out there. His ride last year at Daytona was mind blowing. I guess from a business stand point, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me to have him risk injury that could potentially screw up his season for, what will be, 3 meaningless races.

I agree but it’s part of what he wanted if they wanted him to stay on the 250. Kids pretty smart for doing it.

Im pretty sure hes already signed with Geico thru 2019 and maybe even 2020. He extended his deal at the end of this year through 2019 at least.

Hope no one minds we play make believe for a second.

I've always wondered if a top 250 rider got placed into the 450's, and was leading the points through X amount of rounds, what would the factory do?

While unluckily, it ain't impossible. There isn't any tea precedent for that situation, so I wonder how it would be handled
