This topic may have been discussed before but I am wanting to start a jersey collection of my favorite riders. What's the best way to go about that? I see occasional eBay auctions but they usually sky rocket the price. Is it best to order replicas and take them to the races and get them signed or what? I don't like begging a rider for a race worn jersey when they are trying to cool down after a race and assess the performance.

I too am in this boat and would love to acquire some moto memorabilia. Jerseys, number plates, broken parts, etc.. Most of the ebay auctions become inflated (most of the time this is a good thing as the auction is raising funds for Road to Recovery needs) and are far from my "average joe" price range.

On the other end of the spectrum I see man friends, mechanic friends etc.. with fenders, full gear combos, helmets etc.. all provided to them for free.

Guess in moto memorabilia it is who ya know.
However, if you find a memorabilia outlet, please share with this vitard.

I was very close to paying 500$ for a race worn AC jersey for R2R and I just couldn't bring myself to do it. It's a great cause but I have other things I need more than a 500$ jersey. If the opportunity comes up again I may have to just bite the bullet because I can't find anywhere else to get even a replica without having the letters and numbers put on after the fact. Forkners went for 800$+ so looks like I need to do some saving. If anyone has experience with this I'm all ears.

I've been collecting jerseys for years. Unless you've got boatloads of cash to blow, it can be a slow process. Check out Facebook memorabilia pages, the bizaar on here, and eBay. Any eBay auction for a jersey that's being sold to benefit someone like Road2Recovery are going to sell for high amounts. Those auctions get a lot of attention from people with big hearts or deep pockets. Theres also a lot of private sellers on eBay who are asking way too much but if you watch these auctions, most of them never sell and keep being relished. They probably are hoping the right person will come along and be willing to pay that and don't really need the money. Others will ask crazy amounts because they believe they seen a similar item sell for that when in reality they probably seen someone ASKING that amount. It doesn't mean the item SOLD for that. Jerseys are fair market value. They have no more worth than what someone is willing to pay. If you consistently browse eBay, the bazaar, and fb pages, you're going to stumble across some reasonable priced jerseys at some point. I browse multiple times weekly but only come across fairly priced items once every few months. I probably have around 20 or so jerseys.

I have a Travis Pastrana 2001 US Open Jersey with American Flag lettering, I got it in person from him at the event.Lots of knockoff Pastrana Jerseys out there, This is 1 of 2 that had the special September 11th American Flag letter, Travis has the other one at his house still.
I have 2000 or 2001 Pontiac Jeremy Mcgrath #2 jersey, that I got from him in person.
And my last one is a 1996 Doug Henry #15 Jersey that I got from him years later.

Sometimes you have to be in the right place at the right time, knowing the right people.

All of the jerseys are for sale as well.

What are you looking to get for the Pastrana jersey? I have one of his jerseys currently but when it comes to Pastrana, Carmichael, or Stewart, I don't mind having multiples!

You got pics of the front? That looks like a replica.
