Congrats to Jerry and his crew.
I see some Suzuki's, Kawi's and other Honda's on the score sheet. So it appears Jerry wasn't the only one on an older bike out there.
The real fun will be later this morning when he races 250B.
Then he will be on the gate, I would assume, predominantly filled with new 250F's.
I can't wait to hear the excuses the 2 stroke haters will have if he has a similar finish.
Not sure what excuse there is to make, on paper a 250 2-stroke is a strong advantage. But of course it's the rider that matters.

Just as a kid (which seems like a nice kid) who wants to go to LL on an 85 model CR250? The kid is smart, and he did what he had to do to get some attention. But in the end, it's not going to change a thing.

Honestly

How did everyone figure Jerry would finish at LL?

I agree.

But he's going to have to ride to get that.

^This. People forgot that the 4-strokes didn't start winning until the top guys started riding them. Luckily, this sport is heavily dependent on the rider and not just the machine.

Slight advantage to the 4strokes in 250B over Jerry's 85 CR later today. Mud race with a snappy 85 CR is not ideal...lol. Better lower the air pressure and put in them heavy tubes.

Your post infers the family had other options. Do you honestly think riding the qualifier on the '85 was a calculated attempt by the Robins to gain some attention?

Thought this could use a bump. 9th in 250B after coming through the pack...on the 28 yr old outdated, non-competitive POS! lol. Suck on that haters.

So he did actually manage to resurrect the bomber bike for his 250B race? Anyone else verify that?

Yes, he rode the 85 to a 9th in the 1st moto of the 250B class. Was 17th on the first lap...

Let me verify this-- a 1985 bike that probably is worth maybe $900 on craigslist. nets Jerry 9th place out of 41 entries in 250B. A starting gate chock full of modified 250F bikes.

Do I have this right? Hats off to Mr Robin and crew!

So now, why does anyone want to spend $8k on a 250F when a bike 1/4 of a CENTURY older can at least hang with it?

So they don't have to bring Chad Watts to the race to rebuild their bike when it scatters 5 minutes into practice?

Gee -- a bearing failure in a near 30 year old bike. What a surprise. I guess I better stay away from two strokes.

And they repaired the damage in how much time? For how much money? And then got 9th?

Really better stay away from those two strokes...

Most races happen in one day. You blow up in practice, you go home. You said you can't understand why anyone would buy a new 250f, I gave you an answer.

They had a spare bike they swapped the engine out of. Now lets hope it makes it 2 more motos.

Maybe someone could ask Jerry or his dad exactly how much has been spent on that bike in the time they have had it? I for one would be very interested in that number.

Oh and how many other engines have blown at Loretta's so far? Are there any? Anyone know? Just wondering.

I know that Jerry's bike blew up at least once between regional's and Loretta's. Not including practice at LL. Maybe more.

Grizz u seem to have a problem with Jerry who's a good kid. Putting him downs not gonna make you any faster so worry about you and your new kx450.

This kid comes out of nowhere and is doing something that not one other kid his age would or could do! If it were that easy to go that fast on an old ragged out bike then they'd be doing it every year! Jerry Robin obviously will ride and race and go fast on what ever you give him and that right there is HEART people, Hannah like heart in my book! I'd bet that for as long as they have had that bike and all that has gone into it to make that first moto of the 250B class in which he placed 9th, that it was still the cheapest bike on the line in that 250B class!!! Anyone want to respond to my post in a negative way, eat it, you don't even matter. What does matter is that what ever happens the rest of the week Jerry Robin is still going to be one of the best stories to come out of Loretta's in 2013. JR is making what I feel is moto history and some just don't get it...

I would like to see what kind of damage he could do on a "factory backed bike".
