This Thursday, May 5, a good number of European top riders will square off in the sand of Rhenen in the province of Utrecht, the Netherlands. Steve Ramon, David Philippaerts, Ceriel Klein Kromhof, Yentel Martens, Jeffrey Dewulf ... the sand specialists will be at the appointment of an international motocross on which we will have the opportunity to see Jeffrey Herlings riding a KTM 450 SX -F.
The double world champion MX2 therefore abandon its exceptionally 250 SX-F to try the big bikes. The young Dutchman has also announced to have already made several training sessions aboard the big KTM. This reflects in any case of Elsendorp Driver interest in this displacement ... before a -very awaited for- switch to MXGP next year?\

After this week's earlier Herlings thread...this is quite the bombshell.
I can't recall him riding the bigger bike before except for the des nations at lommel...so yeah it is exceptional.
Having said that, the Eurosport commentator, past British champ whose name has left me (must be the beer), said the MX2 guys all train on 450s cause of the low maintenance...maybe Herlings has likewise always trained on the 450...hard to believe though..he rides for factory KTM...I think they'de foot the bill of a factory 250 practice bike...

No disrespect to the rest of the field but I expect Jeffrey to dominate them easily
I don't think there's an MX championship that Herlings wouldn't win, as long as he doesn't crash out. That's the only knock on him (similar to the way Stewart was years ago when he was the FMOTP)
I love watching sand. Hate riding it, but love watching it. The rougher the better. No other condition, for me, better illustrates the awesome ability of the best riders.

Pit Row
Results: Heat 1 - Heat 2 - Heat 3
That race in Orp Le Grand was his big rehearsal for the MXON in France that same year, because of the fact that the tracks are quite similar if you talk about soil. You know that MXON where he finished second in heat2 behind Gautier Paulin but in front of Ryan Villopoto, Ken Roczen and all others. In the third heat he finished 9th.
Pictures from back then.
Let Kenny ride any bike, let Jeffy ride any bike, Kenny got his number every place but sand...
You guys are somehow totally missing that i'm talking about RAW SPEED. Not the ability to win multiple races and championships on a 450.
What guy X would do on brand X is irrelevant in this discussion.
then Tomac in Motocross... RAW SPEED...
and it's only bench racing... Pardon me now, I must finish mowing grass before darkness falls...
