I did the "tour" for a year, and I agree. The T/A's were better..

While I agree that the big truck stops are pretty awesome, I have to wonder just how long it had been since you had eaten. The flying j pizza is some of the worst tasting stuff I've had to date, it looks great, but much like finding out the new hot girlfriend was in porn, when you get right down to it, not so great. You guys need Casey's down there, best gas station zaa so far

It's almost always just a 24 hour sickness, sometimes even less.
You, my friend, have never had food poisoning.... Made a bad decision in Mexico once and it damn near killed me. I was insanely sick for about a week and didn't feel normal for about a month. The other time, very popular, busy restaurant with an "A" health rating and was down for about 3 days. Terrible terrible sickness.

How in the world did he get food poisoning? Does he grab something from the gas station on the way to the track? I would figure the riders meals are regimented and controlled for peak performance. That's incredible.

Ever travel for business? It is impossible to not eat in a space that someone else does not have a hand preparing the food. Every kitchen and hand in the process of making food can pollute the food.

The miracle is that food poisoning does not happen more often.

My humble opinion.
My point being is given what is on the line, I figured there would be much greater control of his diet. Food poisoning comes on quick, so it is not that hard to believe he could have or should have been eating at the rig. I understand your point about food prep by different people etc. and I suppose that cross contamination or something happened in the rig, I just thought it would be a lot less likely in that environment.

I have, and it always clears up within 24 hours
A lot of different kinds of bacteria can cause different illnesses for varying lengths of time. Crazy, right? #Chipotle

hate to break it to you but Taco Bell doesn't count as "Mexican food" and it certainly isn't "A rating" bro

I can say for sure that it's sometimes longer. I had a bad case of it that I picked up in Spain (undercooked chicken), and ended up needing IVs after I got home due to dehydration and not being able to keep anything down for multiple days.

I like the Flying J's because they have the RV islands where you can get gas, propane, and dump the black and gray tanks all in one place. I haven't found that at any T/As.

I meant T/A's for trucker watching. Some interesting people at those stops. As far as truck stops, I always was a Love's guy.

When I do the summer tour, it's a frequent stopping point.
How about those gas stops in the northeastern US? SHEETZ. At least they don't hide what could potential happen to you if you eat there. Laughing I've only ever bought fuel and sealed beverages there.

I feel certain that Jason didn't have the following issue, but some of you guys may be misdiagnosing food poisoning for gallstones. Millions of Americans have gallstones and don't even know it. I didn't know it, but I have had them for years. The way I found out was I had a really bad episode of what I thought was food poisoning from eating some pizza. But what made it really weird was nobody else who ate the pizza got sick. I couldn't put two and two together until I went to the Dr. The symptoms are almost exactly the same. A gallstone attack can come from eating really high fat, greasy food like mexican food or pizza. So if some of you guys think that Taco bell, or Dominoes pizza or your local greasy cheeseburger joint under cooks their food, you might want to go get an ultrasound.

Just another reason to clean up the diet.

It's a terrible thing. I've ended up with it from Chipotle and KFC. It's like your body just tries to flush everything out both ends.

One time I got it at work and was throwing up into a bag while I was driving home. Worst experience of my life.

Most cases I've had were always 24 hours then gone, until last year... Had a chicken sandwich from Wendy's and got super sick. Stuck around for a few weeks, missed all kinds of work, ended up spending a night in ER hooked up to monitors, doing a stress test and all that fun stuff. It was horrible and I legitimately thought I was going to die. My body still hasn't quite felt normal and that was almost a year ago. Definitely better than I was though. I've never been that sick in my life and all the doctors said it was an extreme case of food poisoning. I don't wish that upon anyone. I constantly felt like I was going to pass out, plus add on a sinus infection with all of that. It was bad.
