Japan’s big four announce consortium for electric motorcycle battery tech

I don't recall hearing about this before but I don't follow the E-bike progress nearly as much as others so I appologize if this is old news.

Well, the might of the Big Four, with them working to a replacement battery standard ( as I read this as) , is a good thing for E Bikes.

What is needed is for the other main manufacturers to get involved with a standard, which will possibly bring the Chinese - by far the largest manufacturers of E bikes, now, and in the future - into adopting the same std.

They said that about e-MTB's and it's the fastest growing segment in the cycling industry right now.

I think all the anti-electric folks need to understand that the future isn't you. The future is some 5-6-7 year old kid that doesn't have some unhealthy obsession with arguing about whether a 2 or 4 strokes are better. haha

James May from Top-Gear just bough a Tesla, which is tough to hear for a car guy. He actually makes some solid points and none of them are about going "green".

I’m hoping it results in more riders. Being quiet and stealthy should open up more opportunities for kids to ride in closer, more local, accessible spots. Like backyards, back lots, woods adjacent to homes and neighborhoods.

However, the prices have to decrease and range increase. Otherwise, you are probably correct——fewer riders if the prices stay high and range stays low. But technology usually becomes more accessible to the poor masses (me) over time. My TV cost $300. Would have cost a couple grand a decade ago.
