Man, for as many people that hate this guy, they sure seem to be pretty emotionally invested in his decisions. The way haters follow this guy's name around is insane!

IE: Look at how quickly the "Views" climb for this thread. Look how fast threads that have his name in them jump up in pages. Some people need to get a life.

That was part of the point that I was trying to make with the Tiger Wood thread last week.

And it blew right over their heads. People try to legitimize and rationalize their ridiculous loathing for a man trying to live his life the best he can.

I think it comes down to a lot of disappointed people. When you break patterns (recent years of one or two dominant riders) and parody enters the scene, people don't know how to react. So they react by hating the man that was supposed to continue the pattern of domination. We had a series of riders that really elevated the sport, and then Carmichael came and completely took it to another level with his work ethic. Then came James Stewart who had an insane amount of talent and people thought "If he could just keep working, he'll be the greatest rider this sport has seen." But then things didn't come together and James hasn't been what people thought he would so clearly become. Now we have a bunch of butt-hurt assholes that follow James like lost puppies.

Someone who has the time should go through ALL the Vital threads that have been started in the last year and see how many times James, Stewart, JS7, #7, Stewey, etc. is in the title.

Prolly a very large percent.

Love him or hate him, we sure talk about him! Wink

You have proven the point that James Stewart is one of the most popular, and polarizing, figures in this sport. Congratulations. A lot of other, quicker, people knew this a long time ago.

Bingo. Take a look at the other threads.

There's a Pastrana thread (one of the legends of the sport) that's been up for over an hour and has less views than this one does. Just look at all the time-stamps vs. the views, and you'll see that if any of those keywords (JS7, James Stewart, etc...) are present in the thread title, it has more view/more posts in less time than the rest on the front page.

No shit, GrapeApe. The point isn't that he's polarizing or popular. The point is that the people that hate him follow him around like he's their favorite rider.

Its the same 10 - 15 people week after week, year after year. What I find odd is not one of them have a picture of themselves even sitting on a motorcycle in their avatar. Strange.

It doesnt matter how many people or dislike him in this sport. Every single one of us love racing and like to see good racing, and now that he is in for outdoors, all those people who like and dislike him are going to be glad that he is racing outdoors because we all want to see good racing.

Im not a big Stewart fan, but I dont dislike him, and I am damn glad he is racing outdoors. I am just curious to see what he is going to be riding. You would think that if he was riding for JGR, it would have said it in the tweet, but he said more news to follow. Cant wait!Sideways

When a thread title involves a polarizing figure both lovers and haters are going to check it out. I don't understand why this is such an eye opener for you.

I honestly think the posters have as much to do with it as the subject himself. There are some die hard Stewart fans, and they showed long ago that their feathers can be ruffled easily. I would bet there are some people that get into JS7 threads just to mess with Kongols. Same with the 2 stroke threads. I don't hate 2 strokes, but I sure love screwin' with the core group of 2 stroke enthusiasts on here.

People love him or love to hate him.

FYI, I clicked this thread to see if you were the first ass to start another one about him racing Hangtown so I could give you crap since there is already one on the first page.... Guess that makes me the ass now Tongue

The most popular rider in the sport will be talked about the most and criticized the most. It's just the nature of sports.

Again, not a surprise, GrapeApe. More of an attempt at a reality check for those that rabidly follow his name around just to spew hatred for him. If you don't like James Stewart, and don't give a damn about him, why would you click on the thread? I'm sure there are already 100 people that are in that boat right now.

And I'm guessing you'd punch him straight in the mouth, or face, or whatever it is that you like to punch for no reason?

Of course people are going to look and its not just people who don't like him , its also people who do. I remember the story GuyB had that he used and I dont think it was fitting because his was about the media and not forums but Stewart as is Woods are the biggest name in their sport and when the top dog falls everyone is going to follow the story.

How many time has this happened where the top number one guy in a sport fails at something and falls from grace and is ignored? Even back before the Forums like Vitalmx when Bradshaw melted down and walked away it was in all the mags every month so its nothing new except we have and read thousands of opinions and not just a few from the mags. If some of you guys cant handle it and take it personal when a rider you like fails then maybe you should find a magazine to read and stay off the forums that way you will only have to read one or two personal opinions and not have to interact with hundreds of people on a forum who can post their opinion.

But that is the very thing that is good for you in your business the bad thing is the handful of dipshits who come in here just to cause trouble and they do it over and over with new screen names , its the nature of the beast. Lots of TV station web pages are tied in to face book so that when you post you are a name and face , it cut way down on the racist and just down right stupid comments
