PR from MotoConcepts

September 15, 2017 (Spokane, Wash) - MotoConcepts Racing (MCR) rider Jake Weimer suffered multiple injuries following a crash that occurred this past Friday while practicing at Milestone MX Park for the upcoming Supercross season.

Weimer’s injuries consist of one collapsed lung and one bruised lung, a broken rib, fractured elbow, broken scapula along with a small bone break in his right hand. While initial recovery was uncertain and not favorable, doctors have indicated an recovery prognosis of 6-8 weeks allowing Jake the opportunity to return to riding in late 2017 with the potential of racing as early as January, 2018.

“Our group is saddened for Jake’s situation as he was really gelling with the bike which was resulting in significant improvement in his speed,” said MCR Team Manager, Tony Alessi. “I’m relieved the injuries weren’t more severe and I’m optimistic we’ll see Jake back on the bike soon. All of us at MCR are saddened by this turn of events and are committed to providing the necessary support to get Jake ready to compete in 2018,” said Alessi

That seems a little fast with the laundry list of injuries. You left off the I in the last Alessi btw.

Sure seems Jake can not get a full off season in and is always coming in at under 100%. Bad luck seems to follow the coolest guys.

Sounds totally doable. I bet he's ready to go with a smile on his face come SX time. Enjoy the break Jake. Slight pun intended...

That sucks for Jake. I hope he has a speedy recovery and is able to make it to A1.

MXA is reporting that Weimer's injuries were "due to a crash rumored to be due to a rear hub failure"

...and that would be accurate.

I hate it when simple failures like chains, hubs, sprocket bolts (gotta torque 'em tight!), etc. cause injuries. For how dangerous MX/SX is, the simple hard parts shouldn't fail anymore.

Bikes are building more torque than ever, I'm not seeing beefed up anything, same hubs, chains, sprokets you could buy 5 yrs ago, hell, probably 10.

I'd count on more failures than ever.

I hope he gets paid extra. And gets better soon. I guess he will be making an appearance on pulp soon?
