The thing that throws me off about him and Honda is that with the new bike and the earthquake, I understood they were so far behind that they wouldn't have much support except for the HRC effort. I thought Matthes or Weege said something that they really wanted Mookie, but weren't sure about bikes... So adding even another rider sounds completely out of the question.

I think if James and Malcolm were on the same team it would benefit James by encouraging him to keep it on two wheels among other things riding with his brother.
The Stewart's both racing 450's for the same team would be a big win win for everybody I believe.

I think Mookie will be signing a Geico deal and if James wants to race it seems like he's going to have to fork out the cash to do so.

The factory that produces the production bikes does not work on the HRC bikes, the American HRC bikes are built in the workshop in American....and factory bikes that require a base build would probably get the first bikes off the production line not the last, so really production supply would have nothing to do with the number of factory bikes available.

I heard from an insider at Geico that Mookie won't sign unless they take JS on as well at a cool 2 mil. Doubt we will see that happen...

BS and very poor humor. You do understand that weak minded will run with this, right?

All of the current 2017 HRC CRF450R race bikes are production bikes. Such as Bobryshev's bikes were production numbers 002 and 004.

This might explain better why there's been an issue with production...

Honda's plant that was damaged is the only one tooled to build CRF models; such as motocross, off-road, and adventure bikes like the Africa Twin. That plant itself was damaged and took a few weeks to get up and rolling at full-speed again.

Second problem, some of Honda's part suppliers that are in that area were wiped out. Honda themselves outsource many components on their bikes to local suppliers, such as radiators, electrical, brake rotors, engine components, etc. With these suppliers having their operations completely destroyed, Honda had to go to other vendors to have these components made. Then, they had to re-endurance test these components. Even though the parts been made, you have to figure out the quality of the part made by the new vendor. This adds even more time to the process. Also, this model wasn't planed to be an early year release, so what would have been a slightly late bike, has become an extremely late bike in the eyes of the consumer.

Third off, the line that produces this bike is building Honda's biggest hit right now, the Africa Twin. I believe when the plant came back on line, they had to balance out what they produced next to meet current consumer demand.

Quick poll!

If Geico can sign one or the other Stewart to their 450 spot for the same money, who do you take?

Is that a real question? Hands down Mookie..... Younger, hungrier, talented, less drama and most of all cheaper without the man friend mob.

Agreed. At least Malcolm is like to show up to (and finish) the majority of the races, if not all of them.

As dumb as this sounds, is it an option to run 2016 450's since the 2017 450 is still the "old" platform?

Maybe Stewarts are on 2016 450's, then there is no parts issue. Hell they could probably get a cheap deal since HRC will want to off load quite a bit of stuff real shortly.

Give James and Malcolm the old bikes and support. If James somehow starts winning give him a 2017. Looks good all around for Honda

They didn't seem to have much of a problem running one with Tomac or Bogle...or (briefly) with Malcolm.

The 2017 bike is not the "old" platform. The 2017 model is completely new. Different frame, engine, suspension, Intake, almost every part is different from the 2016.

Nobody is just going to give him a ride but i would absolutely go out to his house and see what his training and mindset is like and if I liked what I saw I'd sign him immediately

Suggesting HRC support the Stewarts with old bikes is why Vital posters get a bad reputation
