Which one to believe?
The Shop
The Stewart's both racing 450's for the same team would be a big win win for everybody I believe.
This might explain better why there's been an issue with production...
Honda's plant that was damaged is the only one tooled to build CRF models; such as motocross, off-road, and adventure bikes like the Africa Twin. That plant itself was damaged and took a few weeks to get up and rolling at full-speed again.
Second problem, some of Honda's part suppliers that are in that area were wiped out. Honda themselves outsource many components on their bikes to local suppliers, such as radiators, electrical, brake rotors, engine components, etc. With these suppliers having their operations completely destroyed, Honda had to go to other vendors to have these components made. Then, they had to re-endurance test these components. Even though the parts been made, you have to figure out the quality of the part made by the new vendor. This adds even more time to the process. Also, this model wasn't planed to be an early year release, so what would have been a slightly late bike, has become an extremely late bike in the eyes of the consumer.
Third off, the line that produces this bike is building Honda's biggest hit right now, the Africa Twin. I believe when the plant came back on line, they had to balance out what they produced next to meet current consumer demand.
If Geico can sign one or the other Stewart to their 450 spot for the same money, who do you take?
Pit Row
Maybe Stewarts are on 2016 450's, then there is no parts issue. Hell they could probably get a cheap deal since HRC will want to off load quite a bit of stuff real shortly.
That comes directly from Ziggy
