Now that Millsaps is gone for next year, they will be hard pressed to find another top 5 rider willing to get spit off of that bike and risk injury, unless Yamaha changes their design, or JGR cuts ties with Yamaha...IMO.
He is a good SX rider and could be top 10 or better in the 450 SX class I would assume.
Cunningham could be another prospect or even Wharton...when they move up.
The Shop
BTW- I'm talkin top 5 potential guy here.
Who can they sign for 2013 that can win a supercross?
Bubba- been there, done that.
Shorty- signed with McBrooks for 2013
Canard- signed with Factory Honda through 2014
Barcia- sign with Factory Honda
Dungey- signed with KTM
RV- if he liked the bike and he was paid enough. Maybe?
Reed- if he can't sign RV to his team? Maybe he would race the YZ for enough money?
Wilson- did he sign with KTM? Wilson is probably JGR's best opportunity.
Yamaha has a YZ450F brand problem. The JS7 is a PR disaster.
I will put it this way.....
I have honestly heard some stories of Regal hauling major ass at SX practice tracks back when him & JS7 were at L&M.
Like running James race pace/speed on that YZ450 F.
In the right zone and confident he could be a consistent top 5 within time, from what I have heard, his speed is there and he is capable(putting it all together on race night is a whole different story).
There are a couple guys that are close to him that post on here that can more then likely back up what I said.
It's just hear-say (to me) ,but I don't think they would just talk to talk.So I figured I would throw that out there.
Should be interesting to see what happens with JGR for 2013 as far as riders go and results.
Aside from Barcia and maybe Wilson, nobody is in a hurry to sign these other racers.
derp
It's all about name branding.
Pit Row
Sipes has won Lites sx mains and Chisolm was happier(and better) on the YZ than he is on the KX. Both likeable hard workin guys.
A healthy Sipes *could* be a top 5 guy. Chisolm, top 7.
In essence, the JS7 and YZ450F debacle has hurt the YAMAHA YZ450F's image. Therefore, there is an negative effect on the brand.
Does not take millions to hurt or help a brand.
No different than the KTM.
problem solved
dungey said he wouldnt even talk to JGR cause' of the yzf450
Wilson has too many other options. Would be surprised to see him at JGR.
I believe Tomac is available. He would be interesting as he's good both in and outdoors and he's a bigger guy which might work for the bike better.
Metcalfe would be OK I guess. He would give them a top 10 guy, maybe better outdoors. I just see him as a second tier candidate since the potential isn't super high for the future.
Chisolm would also be a good 2nd rider.
It must be true.
hey....its no secret alot of people in the pro ranks arent yz450f fans....would the bike make me or 99% of the people on this forum slower..i doubt it..
just statin' what im seeing
