I don’t normally do this but these turned out pretty neat.

I came across JCR from a previous thread about tidying up the handlebar layout when you have a start button, Kill button and map button strapped to the cockpit.

I sent the guys a message a while ago and they were quick to respond with what I was after, I put the order through and received a tracking number before I could scratch my nose.
Covid caused a few delays with getting it here but it got here eventually. Postage was incredibly pricey and now I can see why. What could have been sent in a padded envelope was sent in a rather large box, a bit over kill.

For obvious reasons I asked for a blue bracket on the start button and red bracket on the killswitch. They came as ordered and the buttons have a nice firm tactile feel to them.

They’re a universal switch with some tidy work to attach a Yamaha plug to them, nothing to complain about here.

From what i gather the brackets are probably for a Honda, so they don’t quite marry up to a Yamaha clutch lever perch as nice as I’d like. And the bracket is slightly thicker with larger bolt holes than stock, so the small 8mm bolt will need to be replaced with a longer one with a larger head.

It’s the opposite problem with the start button bracket on the brake side, the bracket matches up fine but the stock bolts fit too snug where you have to use a open end spanned to tighten it, not real ideal for what’s normal a quick job with a t-bar.

So here’s a before shot

And after

I guess every little bit helps in making these a little less cramped.

Here’s what I’m really keen on testing out this weekend. Woohoo

No idea why some of those photos came out sideways, that’s annoying.

Edit: fixed.

I bought the start from JCR & the kill from Ride Engineering for my 2019 Kawasaki KX450 .....like both products!

You can buy these exact same buttons on ebay for 8.99.
Me and a few of my mates have been running them on various bikes with no issues for the last year or so.

You could swap out the hex head for a socket head cap screw.

Exactly. I thought the brake and clutch clamps should use a 8mm headed M6 flange bolt. 10mm head M6 doesn't look right.

What connector bullets does it use?

That assembly looks reasonable quality.

There are some cheap versions with a cast aluminium housing/clamp that are rubbish- the bracket has the strength of tasty cheese and the switch assembly is a tiny micro electronics thing.

My JCR was plug and play for the start. My kill was Ride Engineering - splice and solder.

I have a kill switch and a start button on my 450x that I made into a dual sport. They def clean up the bars and make alittle more room for my switches for my dual sport kit. Just solder in and there good to go. From what I remember I think they only work on oem perches.

2019 and up KX450, I bought two starter buttons from JCR and used one as the kill switch - the plug is the same for starter and kill

This is the ultimate set up, less foof on my handlebars

In the Dez, we've used those for years for "Push to Talk" on our radios.

I ran the ride engineering one on my starter for 8 years on my old WR. Never had an issue with it, they do sell rebuild kits but I never needed one. Interested in the Tusk one, but last time I looked they were back ordered.

I have the Ride ones but constantly have problems with the connections inside the button coming loose. It’s easy fix by opening it up, just annoying to do if you bike won’t start or stop.

A friendly reminder to my moto peeps: Cover your switches and buttons with a plastic bag when washing your bike.
Moisture will damage both OEM and aftermarket buttons/switches.
