Just have to say hats off to J Mart. He has turned into quite the sx rider in the lites class 2018. Will be interesting to see if he can take this into the outdoors this year.

Finally looking like his old Yamaha self, outdoors should be interesting this year if Osbourne doesn't move up.

I've always been impressed by Jmart's corner speed, but he's really picked it up in the whoops this year. I'd say he's the quickest rider in the whoops right now in 250s.

I also noticed a big difference in Jmart. So my question is what changed to make such an improvement?

Training with Tomac?
All new Honda dirt bike?
Experience and confidence?
Feelit2morrow is an idiot?
All the above?

It may fire him up when he looks at the tower and see's his brother's face instead of his own.

I'll admit to questioning his SX skills and decision making for most of his career but he is riding awesome right now. I hope he keeps it going and is back to 2014/15 form for MX.

I think it is a combo of things. It takes a while to get comfy on a new bike, but he hasn't looked as aggressive in my opinion since 2014 outdoors. I think he has been sick for a while and that stuff takes a huge tole on your body. So in short, confidence, fitness, belief.

I don't think his transition to Honda was quite as easy as most anticipated. Seems like he's finally starting to figure it out.

A 3-way title fight between j mart, AP and the old fart ZO? I’m down. Sprinkle in some AC92 and Savatgy and it sounds like one hell of an outdoor championship to me! Counting down the days!

he rides a bike more then anyone in the game. he’s been used to the honda for a while. remember he raced the GP with no time on the bike?

the difference is, he has confidence again

Amazing what happens when you don't start at the back every race!

If he carries this momentum outdoors he will be the one to beat. When Martin was on in 14 - 15 he was lights out fast. And he is looking better than ever at SX at the moment finally getting starts and attacking the whoops.

Certainly confidence is an aspect of it now, but it's been kind of noticeable outdoors how he never looked nearly as comfortable on red as he did the YZ (cornering specifically). Glen Helen last summer was the closest we've gotten to old JMart. Hopefully we can see way more of that this summer.

If you listened to Jmart, he pretty much said that he really needs a well balanced bike and they have now (finally) landed in it. Lot of progress been made on the bike.

So that 1-1.5sec gain i would contribute to finally finding a setting that works on the bike. You heard Marvin said the same thing, he was just off on settings in moto 1 but ones they corrected it he was on it again.

Osbourne is moving up, right? With him out of the mix, Jmart and Plessinger have to be the odds on favorite for the title. Maybe Smith as a darkhorse too

Wow, that 180 turn between the whoop sections!

I wonder what gear he was doing that turn in, his bike sound like it was grunting hard when he took the outside bowl.

Glover, Barnett, Carmichael and Villopoto all have 3 in the 250/Lites/125 class.

Dungey, Stanton, Rick Johnson, Tony DiStefano and Gary Jones have 3+ in the 450 class.

Then Hannah, Ward, Kiedrowski and Stewart have 3+ in both classes combined.

I would say that he has always been fast. But spending more time on the ground than racing is not the key if you want to win races. He has managed to keep it on 2 wheels these last couple of races so he's probably gonna be on fire for the nationalsCool
