Pastrana just took his shirt off! Haha in all seriousness James is getting better and better by the week with this podcast.

Man this was a fun one. Love seeing these two together again. One of the most iconic rider and mechanic combos of all-time. Which is crazy to think after the excellent career Jeremy already had with Emig beforehand. James knows his shit (obviously) and speaks his mind which makes this podcast better and better by the listen.

And had two perfect seasons. But I will say James did shit that nobody else could do for sure.

Haven't had a chance to listen yet so don't know if they covered it or not, but that last year he spent on the Kawi 2 stroke sure didn't do him any favors either. That was the first time I saw him ride in person. The stuff he was doing to try to keep pace was jaw dropping.

JS & JBone touch on that subject also.
Basically they promised him a 450F (it was in his contract) then the Japanese delayed the project for various reasons.
So he was left having to ride the 250.

They promised all of us on Kawi that year. Factory team and Amatuer program. Finally it came in 06. They did the worst job building that thing. Mine did the same thing James did at southwick. More than once it happened.

Can anyone explain what they were talking about when they were talking about “lines in the frame” on the first gen KX450? Implied something was sketchy about the production frame.

Absolutely not. It’s not like Stewart went on a tear once he hopped on the Suzuki. He had three SX seasons (51 races) of riding on that bike to get it done - four if you count the year of his suspension - to rack up a ton of wins, but RV captured the vast majority of them.

Ill give it another go. It has been a challenge to listen, with James struggling to use basic English. Love you bubba. Just honest feedback.

What if he never left Kawi?

That was terrific. The honesty and great transparency is awesome to say the least. We need more of this without a doubt!

James was amazing .he did some unbelievably things. I just think he was nt the only rider to do amazing thing s to make other pro riders look silly , like the post I was replying to said. Ie . RC lapping a field, Everts on the pegs around JS7 .Elli wining by more than 1 min 30 . etc .

You left out the seasons on the Blue Pig...Plus I don't think that Suzuki was that good...

The only thing that held James back was James himself. If he has followed the path as RC he would have beaten the record of McGrath. Huge James fan but he brought most of his sudden end on himself.

If you were forced to take a drink every time you heard the word "like"... you would be passed out drunk in the first 15 minutes. LOL

Definitely a hard listen!

2006 had two lines on the outside, 250f and 450. In 2007 they tucked the lines inside and it was reduced down to one line. It’s was how the tube was made. Nothing sketchy about it.

His reaction when j-bone suggested that craig was almost as fast as James in the whoops was hilarious! James is a funny guy and very entertaining. Great description of why the Yamaha didn’t work. All the weight focused in the middle left nothing to the front and rear of the bike. He’s a pretty good talker and I love it

We’ll never know, but IMO, if bikes would’ve stayed 2stroke I believe James would be closer to MCs record and would have more championships indoors and out. I also think James had to learn and adapt to newer technology and the evolution of the bikes more than any other rider. It seemed like he was always behind the 8ball as far as the best equipment goes. 125 to 450, 2005 no 450 outdoors, 2009 no EFI, 2010-2012 backwards engine pos Yamaha. And the last dagger that killed his career was the FIM suspension. I still think he had some more wins in him in 2015 with the decent year he was having in 2014. Ohh well, just some thoughts, like James said, everything happens for a reason.

That was good. Impressive how some of these riders can remember qualifiers, main events, parts of a track in certain stadiums and types of dirt from 18-20 years ago.

James' whoop speed was simply amazing.
