They're "going it alone". That is, no big energy drink or Indian casino endorsements. I guess Muscle Milk didn't renew with them. Suzuki is being run out of a muffler shop in Chino. Kawi has Monster, and Yamaha handed the wheel over to JGR a half decade ago.
Bikes look clean. I don't agree with Honda's business practices and approach to the series they compete in, but I'll hand it to them for investing in the sport like this. They could have easily just handed the 450 team to Geico and washed their hands of it in the U.S. like the other three Japanese manufacturers did.

This racing program is pocket change for a corporation and i'm sure almost all of the costs get deducted as a marketing expenses in YE statements.
It's not surprising. I would like to know more reasons why you think they aren't smart for doing it?
The Shop
the exact same thing happened to them in the 500GPs in 1994 when Rothman's pulled the plug. They went out on the NSR500 that was done up exactly like the OEM livery on the NSR250s of the time and won the championship with Doohan. As a result, they sold a ridiculous number of NSR250s around the globe and it was directly attributed to their marketing approach that year, at least, according to Honda.
They're doing it again.
but whats with the 2 mufflers thing?
has anyone tried to re-introduce a failed marketing exercise on this scale in mx?
and who cares about hpds?
(no ones ever said "im getting the honda because it has the hpds and 2 mass centralizing mufflers")
Anyone else think that the bikes have a real "Euro" look to them?
IMO

MX Sports
Maybe they didn't want to be seen as Spamming?
and not enough "milk"?
dont know but for some, if you have a motor in a sport its somehow cheating!?!?!?!?
Pit Row
The "Muffler Shop" you refer to employs almost 100 hard working employees that create the exhaust systems that are on Yoshimura Suzuki, RCH Soaring Eagle/Jimmy John's Suzuki, Factory Honda, Geico Honda, and the Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing Superbike program.
Manufacturing in the USA is hard enough these days, never mind mentioning the state of California and all the cost associated with doing it.
Please have a little more respect for the "muffler shop" In Chino.
I invite you to stop by one day and I personally will show you around the facility. I am sure you will have a new found respect for us.
Ok, I am stepping down now....Oh Kudo's to Honda. I agree with you on them going it alone.
Cycling and doping, F1 and deathly crashes etc
