The pressure is on Tomac to not be flawed on the track still. One of the most interesting Supercross series we have seen.
I heard that and thought something was not right , doesnt strike me as something a guy who is having good times would say,
The Shop
Keep trying, loser
There's something else they have in common...the Baker program. Maybe it delivers great for the first few years, then just wears guys down? RC, RV and now RD? Hard to say that's a coincidence.
I know it is completely not in his repertoire, but I'd love to see him line up at the next race on a 350 with F'it for a butt patch.
No trying to read between the lines and all the guessing about his mindset and future.
Loud and clear.
Most of us Vet riders have also learned this fact.
Pit Row
Last night was nothing more than things landing about where they should be: tomac fastest, Musquin faster than Dungey and Dungey getting 3rd. If Roczen wasn't injured, Dungey would have finished 4th.
There is nothing 'wrong' with Dungey, there is nothing 'off' or 'not right.' For him to run the pace of Tomac he needs to be 100% comfortable, loose and at one with the bike. Last night he was riding a bit tight, and only a little bit, but that is the difference between 1st and 3rd.
He was a bit frustrated in his interview, you drama queens read way way too much into it, and so goes the story of the Vital Forums.
A lot of you underestimated Tomac from the very beginning of the season, and after a few of the races, it looked like you might have been correct. But he made his adjustments, got himself and his bike where he needed to be and Voila! He's where a few of us knew he would be. There's nothing wrong with Dungey, but he will have to push probably harder than he wants to run the pace of Tomac - simple as that.
You guys can't praise him for being 'mr. consistency' and the guy who always is there at the end and never takes any chances, but then act like something is wrong when he doesn't finish 1st all the time. ?? Doesn't make sense.
Ryan has some of the best throttle control in the business.
Also, he's won a lot. Tomac hasn't ( in comparison). Different mindsets.
Neither one of these guys deserves any hate from moto fans.
I'm sure all of us have had times in life where we have worked very, very hard to accomplish something - be it in school, our jobs, hobbies, or romantically. And, despite the enormous amounts of effort we've put in, it hasn't worked out.
So, you lose the contract, screw up your project, your relationship fails, whathaveyou. It's common to get tunnel vision, to the point where we can focus on NOTHING ELSE but fixing the problem. We get obsessive. Failure (even if it's in a relative sense, like getting 3rd place instead of 1st) can really mess with our minds if we let it. Especially if we are, like Dungey, high achievers.
Tunnel vision can be very destructive, and often undermines the very problem we are trying to fix. So we try to mentally pull away after a certain point. We swing to the other extreme of nit-picking. We make sweeping, big picture statements: "Oh, there are bigger things in life than xyz" or "There are other fish in the sea" or "In the grand scheme of the universe, this means nothing."
Do we really *mean* that we don't care, that we've given up completely, when we say things like this? Not at all. Rather, it's a way to try and cope with the fact that things don't always go our way. We still care. We just don't want to go utterly bonkers and lose complete perspective.
Dungey cares, very much. But he's obviously quite pressured and stressed. I think "It’s just a dirt bike race" is his way of trying to keep himself from losing perspective and *really* going off the rails.
Post a reply to: "It's just a dirt bike race" ???
