Which begs the question, why is there more money to be made in America than Europe?
Precisely. Surely, the most prestigious championship will be the most lucrative to win.

If our series is not the best then why did Roczen and Fernandes come here? And all the others over the years.

Because they get paid more money here. A fair amount more money.

RV was capable of winning the mxgp title, maybe not in his first year but he was more than capable of getting it done.

Also, some of you seem to have your mind blown apart by the outside world. It really isn't as scary or difficult to survive in foreign countries as you think it is. Some people even enjoy the adventure.

Yeah, bunch of greedy riders trying to do what's best for their careers and families by staying in the US. Tomac and Anderson should also be on 2 stroke 250's this year ( cuz that's what I want to see) instead of trying to win races and chasing the almighty dollar. Pure greed! lol. Silly

I suppose you can do it at a outdoor race track in the infield.

Germany alone has three soccer stadiums with a roof. So that should not be the deal breaker.
If what I’ve read is remotely correct, top soccer leagues will only play on immaculate, natural grass fields. Those are a lot harder to hold a SX on than turf, as it takes a fair amount of time for the grass to ‘snap back’ from being covered by plywood for several days.

It’s a huge reason why the Seattle SX is ran in the Seahawks’ stadium (Lumen Field) instead of the (also covered if needed) Mariners’ stadium (T-Mobile Park).

Lumen Field had to get some pretty tough waivers to hold soccer matches on Field Turf, and they may have actually been unable to play some international matches there in their first couple of seasons.

Bauer, you were a pro back in the day, why didn't you set aside your "greed" and go chase the dream with Brad?

...and went over to Europe in his prime to win the World Championship. I know it won't happen, but that's the only way we will see another American win an FIM title. It would take a guy coming into his prime and he would have to be willing to forego the temptation of racing SX in the states, which would no doubt mean making less money.

It is kind of crazy that the first, last and ONLY American 500 World Champion was Brad Lackey. It took him ten years to get it done, and he and Lori sacrificed plenty to make it happen, but it remains as elusive now as it was then. Fair play to Danny LaPorte, who won the 250 title his first year over there...but the 500 championship was then, and still is a whole other beast.

I remember all the 'merica yahoos in here thinking Villo was going to go there and romp...hahahaha! Going there at the tail end of a career is not gonna ever be enough to land that bad boy. We don't have an American driver racing F-1, no rider racing MotoGP and diddley-squat in MXGP. Where's all that USA pride? Who will step up? Sadly, no one.

Oh well, just thinking out loud. Carry on.
You come off not very intelligent.

The 500 GP's used to be the pinnacle of the sport - now it's the 450 SX class. Times change.
I love motocross - especially the MX Nationals - and I love watching guys like Ferrandis, the Lawrence brothers, Aniste, etc. come over and compete - but I really don't give a shit about MXGP now. To me, it just doesn't have the mystique that it used to in the old days.

I don't see it happening... Just my opinion, many of the guys that come to the US find it easier to fit in and are comfortable once here. Roczen for example... Ferrandis took longer, but he's in a good place now. Americans don't find the same comfort level going to Europe to live.

Now, who would I want to see do it? Today? I'd vote for Chase Sexton. He's one of the most technical riders we have and I think that would do him well in the GP's. He's young, fast and motivated. In my opinion, in 2 years, he'd be a threat, just like he's going to be here in the US.

Imagine you graduated high school and someone came along and said, “here’s a 10 year career. Afterward you’ll have almost zero workforce skills, no advanced education and limited prospects in an industry where you will compete with people willing to take pay cuts to follow their passion. And you’ll be married with 2 kids by the end of it.”

Would you do anything other than try to squeeze every last dime out of that situation? That’s not greed, that’s common sense.
