Is there a stat for most passes in a season?

If there is a recorded stat for this I’m thinking Eli must be in the mix for the record.
Did has had some He-Man rides this year because his starts are so poor.
I bet Larocco would be somewhere in the hunt for for most passes ever too.
I remember RC being dead last a few times and pulling out the win by a big gap actually so I know all the great championship contenders have to salvage what they can when they can but this year it seems that ol Elito-mac has had more than his fair share of wins from the way back.

Passes forward or backwards? Friese has to be in the mix if we consider backwards.

I'd guess Larocco's record for riders passed would be akin to McGraths SX win record. Mike was such a horrible starter. Would have been interesting to see how many more titles he might have if he'd been a holeshot artist.

Stew in 06 probably would have it. Seemed like he crashed in every other first turn for weeks. For a season at least I’m assuming it would be his.

Just the stats of the top five in points in 2020, in the 450 class, as of Salt Lake City round #16, from Movers and Shakers.

1. Eli Tomac..............+98
2. Cooper Webb….....+23
3. Ken Roczen..........+13
4. Justin Barcia.........+48
5. Jason Anderson….+27

I would guess Tomac's motocross numbers for passes would be even higher.

Elito Mac doesn't pass many people... That's why Kawasaki locks him in the porta potty as soon as they get to the track. They figured it out early this year. That forces Eli Tomac to ride the #3 and make it happen.

I've been keeping track of actual passes made this year, as opposed to the difference between lap 1 position and finish position (like Chargers vs Anchors/Movers and Shakers). Unfortunately I only started doing it this year, and it's a lot of work so I probably wont go back and do previous years.

I've not had the chance to do any SLC rounds yet, but my last post after Daytona included some year to date figures. In short, Tomac has been beasting the passes this year, far above any of his peers. And Friese is 2nd for places conceded after Bagget, who's had a few DNFs.

This is the Daytona post, and if you search "pass counts" in the forum you'll find the rest of them.

The AMA can't even tell us what position riders are in around the first turn!
