I dont know, it seems like, with the exception of last year, the modern SX series is too long on the current bikes/tracks for the modern athlete to manage. 9 rounds in and the thing blew out to be a dud with top riders bar one having crashed so hard they cant finnish the series...
Knock it back to 9 rounds and combine the GP's and outdoors for a true outdoor world series. Riders from both sides of the pond can ride both series then.
just a thought...

The Shop
1. Anaheim 1
2. Atlanta
On to the nationals.
I'd love to see a World MX championship series, but it won't happen.
I agree. Right now riders can decide if the want to do SX only if they want which makes it short and they have plenty of time off, but then people would complain. They could race MX only but there is a lot less money in that. Or they can do both. If they have both they have time off.
They can choose not to ride over their head and crash. They can choose not to ride at all. Why do fans think they know what is best, how many races, how safe the track is, which tracks to race, how the tracks should be set up, how much noise the bike makes. The AMA decided that, they are the org people choose to ride in. If you want to be able to dictate changes, get into a postion in the AMA where you can to that or create your own org where you make the decisions. But I think that a lot of fans are in the same ""I dont know,"" boat.
I wouldnt mind a shorter season.. But they wouldnt cut the Cali rounds, so ulitmatley we wouldnt get to see them as much.. but a 13 or 15 rd season wouldnt bother me.. Give them an opportunity to heal before the mx series starts.
A shorter series would also put pressure more on each rounds importance. As it would be harder to recover from a
bad weekend.
One of the biggest reasons for having 17 rounds is to be able to go 16 different places in the US. Granted, I could do with a few less SoCal rounds but it doesn't mean they couldn't be more spread out in the west/midwest
Pit Row
12 MX how it is now.
How it needs to be:
I will gladly give up St Louis SX to get rid of all the SX races. Once local outdoor racing starts, I barely watch SX whether a championship is at stake or not. The only time we get into SX is in the winter when we can;t ride.
10 SX races - I do not care where, series starts after X-mas, finished by 2nd or so week of Mar, also make 25 lap mains for 450 and 20 lap mains for 250.
2-3 week break in between. recoup, retool, re-fund, whatever
First weekend in April, start MX season. 18 races (this is actually cutting total by 1) with a break or two, finished by end of Aug. More outdoors also gives more privateers (40 instead of 20) the opportunity to race. ? where can we get the tracks. Answer: we can have a red bud 2, millville 2, etc, etc. hell we have Anaheim 4, plus we can add some new tracks. Bring Glen Helen back, Gatorback, Kenworthys, ...........Saddleback, Carlsbad (just kidding)
Vacation for riders until Weekend after x-mas. Gives time to travel overseas, Monster cup, whatever or vacation for damn near 4 months.
Crown SX and MX champ seperate, but also have Grand National Champ with combination of both series points, both classes 250/450.
Time to get back to the roots of MX, SX blows
