Kind of fishing here but work with me!

Did MC wrap up his rookie season championship earlier than Dungey?

The only thing is, MC beat all of his competition for the whole series. I don't believe any of the main guys were hurt, he just spanked all of them.

RD's championship might have been harder earned than MC's because he had to race against two faster guys (JS, CR), and battle a career rival who is the same speed, if not slightly faster.

You cannot discredit RD for other guys crashing out. If you could, Travis Pastrana would win by default every time he signed up...and Bubba would have more championships than the GOAT.

Ridge, MC took it to the defending champ for 15 rounds. Dungey is doing great but other guys had misfortunes and he kept it together.

Yeah, you're right! (And, I mentioned that in my cast.) MC had a huge advantage that year. He was the only one (I think) who had a SX track in his back yard.

didn't Bayle retire in 1992 and Bradshaw was burnt out in 1993- MC had his help too just like Dungey.

You can't take anything away from either achievement - both are great.

also , i believe , dungey /suzuki had it together at the start of the series. it took a bit for r.v. to get it figured out.
dungey started strong then evened out vs r.v. sluggish at first then offensive mode .
but , ya....3/4 of the way in sx series and dungey is now in destress mode preparing for the outdoors.
very possible to start outdoors the same way he did sx series.

oh jeeeez, give it a rest dude. Figures you would throw in that Bayle crap.

Well, in that case. Everyone racing this season should be thankful that Ricky retired 3 years ago.

Or even better..Everts had his help for Ricky not coming over and racing the GPs.

No way.

Dungey is doing well and he's a very talented rider but he's not going to be a dominating rider like MC and that's just fine with me. I like it when we have multiple winners like we have this season.

Give it up. RC is gone. He wouldn't have won the sx title in 2007

I fixed it.

I apologize but I have either been in an airport or on a plane since 5:30 am this morning and I am a little out of it.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here...

Dungey has had a great career thus far, and proved if anything he thinks everything is possible...

In fact, he is a great rider for firsts...

First SX Lites race - Won
First MXDN - Won
First SX title - Won

He has had some great rides peppered with the normal ups and downs... But there is a long way to being anything like MC... I'd say 2008 west coast was the best thing that ever happened to him... Hardened him up..

Dungey may not ever get this many wins in a season ever again. If I was a Dungey fan, I would just enjoy the moment and not set the goals too high.

Although I have really enjoyed this season, I have to agree. James will return and Chad will be back up to speed come A 1 next year.

Let's not forget some great lites riders moving to the 450s for next year.

I don't think Bradshaw was burned out. I watched a season review of 93 and Bradshaw was blowing fuses left and right. He seemed very frustrated, pissed off, judging by the altercations and his body language in the pits. I think he expected to win the title that year after what happened in 92' and once McGrath came in and spoiled his party, he lost it mentally, which lead to the "burn out".

what about RV, will he win races / championships?
He's going to get his share of wins.

He is one of the best riders in the series.

Next year is going to be good.

Dungey is the real deal man. He's only going to go up from here. He's got the ability, focus, drive, and he learns quicker than anyone.
