This race gets hyped up like crazy. Nobody ever talks about the all-time leader for wins in Houston or Indy. But we had 3 hours of talking about Tomac's 5 wins.
I've never been to Daytona, so maybe BEING there is awesome.
But watching the event on TV, I always think of it as the low point in the SX season. The camera coverage isn't as good. (But they do get the cool camera cart on the long straight away.) The race seems darker. All the Monster decorations and fireworks at the finish line aren't there. The track is less interesting, etc.

Poll
That's because the race is put on by the Daytona Group and not Feld Entertainment.
Daytona is historic and legendary....but I kinda feel it doesn't live up to the hype anymore. I'm not knocking it by any means.
The Shop
Then I saw one live and then I started working trackside. My opinion changed 100% it is a great race in a historic facility. Something just hits different at that place.
I'm super jaded and have been inside the track countless times and have walked to the top of the banking more than once. As I was leaving yesterday, I still stopped to take a picture of the banking. It is impressive every time you see it.
Pit Row
Add more time(again)...something close to the old days. When I went in 2001, Carmichael was turning 1:33's late in the race. 20 laps @ 1:25~1:33 would be 30 minutes. Doubt Tomac's bike would have made it that long!
The other thing that was cool was the "vibe" of bike week and seeing the variety of racing in 3 successive days. Went to Dirt Track Friday night, SX during day on Sat., and the Daytona 200 on Sunday.
