Cooper probably wins the last three though. I don't think Tomac will risk it again like he did last Sunday and no one else can run with CW for the whole race.
While I see the logic, I'd say there's a greater chance Webb wins out than Tomac. Maybe I'm wrong, but I would think conservation mode would start to kick in here soon and Webb gets the better start most of the time.

Exactly. I was surprised when RC was thinking Eli should lay up and I get why, but Eli has lost a championship by a few points before.

Eli needs to finish at least in 6th place in the last three races and the championship is his.

If Eli wins on Sunday he just needs to get 2nd next Wednesday to wrap it up a round early.
He can win if he gets a start no problem.

Only real threat to Eli’s title hopes is Eli. I think this is his year and if I’m the competition I would be worried about there 2021 title hopes. Tomac is the type of guy as soon as he gets the winning formal all figured out he is on stoppable. I can see him start collecting SX championships
Yup... worst threat is himself....as has been his SOP for the last several years in SX. There is no doubt he's got the talent.

As I mentioned (but it was removed). I'm a big fan of great racing and talent. Plenty of that to go around right now.

The way Webb dealt with Roczen in the qualifier and the main was masterful, to say the least.

That track las night wasn’t as challenging as Sunday’s. Everybody did it he same rhythms and it was slick and marbly. After that crap start I was surprised Tomac made it as far as he did. “You win your championships on your bad days”

Webb is supposed to be winning all these. hes little and light, makings for holeshots, and a good combo on the tiny tracks. put that on arguably the best sx bike out right now... He looks awesome, and I think he wins out. sure would like to see a top pro do a test on those bikes. Paging cole seely..

The thread questions if Webb is a threat to Tomac. The answer is “No, he’s the next Villopoto”. He dominate for 3-5 years in US MX and SX after Tomac wins this SX.

I can't wait to see if Webb can do this outdoors. I know everyone will jump me regarding Eli and yell "beast mode"! All I have to say is that Webb is one of the most determined, intelligent racers I've ever seen and I hope he comes out swinging in MX. Also will Kenny have anything for the outdoors? As it stands now they are going to likely be racing in some brutal heat the first few rounds.

Agree entirely - Webb is at least keeping it interesting - how much better was the race last Sunday because of Webb? And obviously any delay by Tomac at getting to the front means a Win for Webb.

We'll see if Webb is able to up his game outdoors. You know he & Osbourne have yet to peak on a 450 in MX.

If it was up to me, I'd like to see Osbourne take the 450 MX #1 plate - barring injuries & bike problems, it'd be a fairly safe bet to put ET, ZO and CW as top 3 in the MX series, order is TBD.

If Moose-Can has yet to get back on the bike, doubtful he'll be completely ready.

And unless Roczen finds a cure for his summer aliments, some scores of 1-10 & 2-9 would be hard to bet against for him.

I also think Webb is the next multi-time SX and MX champion unless he gets hurt.

His starts, racecraft and conditioning are tough to beat.

Tomac is a little faster but his starts (as always) ruin his ability to dominate.

IMO Webb is hands down the smartest racer out there. His racecraft is a joy to watch. He can damn near see behind him and always anticipates where guys that are trailing him will go. Just brilliant.

Still don't like him, though haha.

Hmmm, I'm picturing a good drinking game here - for every time Cooper Webb and the R word are used in the same sentence, take a drink.

Although, I'm not sure I can drink that much, so maybe a suggestion for others.

And the game wouldn't work with any other name, since no other rider has any of the R word.

(Do I get a Thumbs up for not using that 1 word?)

A healthy Webb would have taken this title with breathing room at Vegas if things were normal and without the fall. But that's why they hold a series because what ifs pay nothing. I still wouldn't count out Eli doing an Eli before it's over.

I think Webb is the second best rider in the field behind Tomac (look at the points....). 3 Races left and Tomac is doing a few things that are "managing the points lead" related. 1) Gate picks are not ideal for holeshots, but he's taking inside lines to "stay away from trouble" the best he can. If Eli does get a good start and is "feeling it", he will push for the win. Its hard to argue he's not the fastest guy on the track. If he does get a bad start (from taking the inside gate pick), he just manages the race and points lead trying to minimize risk.

If there was just one race, winner take all event, my money would be on Tomac, then Webb followed by Osborne, and Anderson. Wish I could have Kenny in that discussion, because he has the talent and fitness. Just health issues are holding him back. For just raw speed, AC would be in the mix too.

Webb seems to be a threat for wins, but not the championship. Tomac is TOO fast, and has a comfortable points lead. Unless something catastrophic happens to Tomac, he is the 2020 SX Champion. But a mechanical DNF for Tomac could make things interesting. But since I would REALLY like to see Tomac get his first SX championship, I hope he cruises his way to the end of he series.

I agree that saying Cooper would have won the title easily is a huge stretch. But without the crash and everything else being equal I think we would have a much tighter points battle. Eli looks to have finally found the right amount of risk vs reward in his "racecraft" now Wink
