Maybe it's what he needs. Hopefully he will come back and show us what he is truly capable of. Good luck to Ben.

The article didn't say he was giving up. It said he would be taking two years off to fully recover.

I sure like Ben and his worth ethic, but maybe this is the right thing to do - to fully reset himself. Maybe if Tortelli did that..... he was another great that couldn't keep away from injury. It always bums me out when guys just keep getting hurt. Makes RC even more amazing.

Honda may have wanted to be the first to officially release the news.

It really sucks when such a promising talent gets hurt and has to sit out or quit. Best of luck in recovery to Townley. He definentley made his time here in the states exciting for me.

The link said they heard from a source. The title of the link was the same as the title of this thread. ????

i think glen helen last year and he was still not recovered. when my buddy who was racing there saw him he said ben had no business being on the bike yet, could not walk well even. thats sucks to take off 2 years in your prime. isnt he 23 0r 24 now

" Unconfirmed exclusive information out of the USA says that Kiwi motocross star Ben Townley is heading home in three weeks. His injuries have prevented him from getting back to full fitness and he will take two years off to fully recover. "

Strange. Over the past few weeks there have been a couple of videos of him riding released and saying he plans to return to SX in the next couple months. Now he's out. Something doesn't sound right.

I think its a good move. the last time we saw him was at hangtown last year when he injured himself.
at glen helen he woulda got third or fourth if his bike didnt die.
He was going pretty fast that race.
We just had the Woodville international motocross here, woulda been great to see him race that.
