Fresh off his SX championship we never got to see what he would have done outdoors after rounding into his new champion/veteran form. He rode a “Dungey” championship some will say by his results, but thats a good thing and his style is NEVER boring to watch. If you think about it he never has big get offs, mental blunders, or injuries besides the rider cross jumping him this off season.

After Elis many blunders and Roczen maybe never reaching his old level... is Ando possibly the real next star? When Ando went to Des Nations he had a broken foot and still delivered. He didnt make excuses he just went out and won, the guys this year bombed. During sx he did what he had to do to be champ. Pretty sure he went out and won his first A1 on the 450 too which is a great sign of later champions. Is Ando possibly the next multi time champ whos not afraid to go toe to toe with Herlings based off past history and were under rating him? Is he our best shot at the next FMOTP or is that squarely on Eli and if he reaches a new level of mental fitness?

SX champ
Who knows what MX would have been
Won his Mxon race
Beat Herlings at MXON

Isnt this what were asking for where Eli always has some mental blunder?

When ET is on he is unbeatable. He's hungry this yr. to win a big bike SX title & don't see anyone beating him unless he beats himself like he has the last 2 yrs. in SX.

I agree if he can keep his head in the game from MEC forward forever. If MXON is his last bomb and he redeems himself by winning the milli at MEC then has a blooper free sx championship on he can be that guy. Will he tho? I think the time is ripe for Ando to come out flyin and stake his claim. He has a wild style to watch but hes consistent as hell... he just might. I think its up to Eli if he lets it happen, I think he has to open the door idk if Ando will take it, but Id love to see it.

I like El Hombre style, I see him repeating SX c-ship and then making a hard run at the outdoors. He's in a good place and that goes a long way in this sport.

Not to make excuses, but the new 19 Kawi didn't help to get things started at MXON. I haven't seen Anderson beat Tomac straight up in the last couple of yrs. they've been racing the 450 class. In the outdoors this yr. before he got hurt he wasn't even close to Tomac's speed.

Eli would have crushed him outdoors just like he did at Glen Helen. Anderson has said it himself SX is his thing. A healthy Roczen pushes him to 3rd and Moose beats him most days. He's nt on Eli or Kenny's level and please don't insult Herlings by even making that comparison. Yeah yeah the MxDN moto like any of us think Herlings is that same rider now

Depends on what you mean by "straight up" I guess. Only time I can specifically remember was the last main of the first triple crown which was Tomac's first race back from his injury at A1.

I'm sure it happened more than just that one time though. IMO Anderson is probably only second to Tomac in terms of pure speed.

drt, I agree 100% with your entire post. I may be Anderson's biggest fanboy and I'd love to see him be "The Man" but I'm also realistic that Eli is still unbeatable when his head is on straight, If Eli could straighten that mess out he would be the dominant force for several years, but that type of problem is tougher to iron out than physical problems.

I think he repeats SX then gets “hurt” again and spends the summer getting ready for the threepeat.

Catch a plane, come to SoCal...and I'll find us the closest thing to a "Rules Club"...& then talk like that. Until then, leave the sheep alone and stay of your mom's computer.

M'kayyyyy, Pumpkin?

Signed,

Someone that actually rides and loves this sport.

I'm a big fan of Anderson. Fast until the last lap, aggressive without being dirty (IMO), looks on edge which keeps it exciting, and he's humble. He also REALLY wanted a chance to redeem himself when asked about doing the MXDN again. Nothing to dislike about the guy. He steps up his game every year which is always fun to see out of someone who was never expected to be "the guy."

He's cool and all, but he's not the next superstar. He will never be better than Eli and people seem to forget he's never been better than Marv either. That may change, but history shows that it typically does not.

If Cole Seely were to be back to full strength and gets a lot of holeshots this year, then I think Anderson repeats as champion. The surest way to have Anderson win a race is for him to be chasing down Cole Seely.........!

Bug Ando fan here, I hope he repeats his SX championship win in 2019, closely followed by Kroc.

Can we be realistic about his MXON moto win though please- Herlings caught him after suffering a bad start, was clearly quicker and had a small tip over with a lap and a half to go, leaving no time to catch up again.

Thats the reality of it and you know it. Furthermore, JH wasn't even a full time 450 rider at that time.

Cant remember 1 time anderson beat eli straight up.

eli wins 2 back to back outdoor titles, wins more than half of all the races this year and last year and somehow anderson is supposed to be the next FMOTP? Guys, anderson got dominated when eli or marv wasnt injured. Its up to eli. Only eli can beat eli.

If you look at their race history...that reads true.

As of late, I know Jason just wants Cole to be himself and get back out there and go for it.

Interesting stat: In 2018, Jason Anderson was the first 450 champ since at least 1998 to not finish first or second in podium finishes. (He had one fewer than both Musquin and Tomac.) The only other two riders who didn't finish first in podiums were Villopoto in 2011 and Stewart in 2009. Villopoto missed one round.

Yeah, I wasn't saying that he wanted to kill him or anything!!!! But I have no doubt that he'd love to have him back to full strength and he'd enjoy playing the shark in the water stalking him down just like the old days! A Seely holeshot and a seeming runaway always seemed to bring our Anderson's best.

Couldn't agree with you more. Eli is the most recent champ and the first to win back to back outdoor titles since RC in '06. We both know that you know who the better guy is, inside and out. Anderson is the third best guy at best. Good on him for winning the championship, but the better man does not always win. Injuries get them all and will again.
