Ironman track layout

Seems like some pretty big changes to the layout this year. The start is different and they took out the big uphill, elevator type jump. They actually only go on top once it looks like.

Anyone have any insight as to why they made these changes?

I feel like they change the track a lot every year. I notice the infield is a lot different and the uphill triple is gone. Maybe they’re trying to get a better viewing area for the fans?

That uphill triple was one of the coolest parts about ironman... All I know is they better not run an update and change the track in All out like they did Millville.

Nah, they’ve moved way too much dirt for the changes to be temporary. Personally I liked the “Godzilla” jump and the following table/downhill more than that uphill triple so I’m glad that’s still there but it was cool to see that triple separate the pack a little bit. The new section has a 100’ tabletop booter, so they’re definitely not short on big jumps.

Looked at more videos and pictures of the new layout and spec area. Looks like it definitely offers some good viewing of multiple sections.

i thought the uphill triple was a little overkill.

but im old i guess and prefer less man made jumps

They jump to the top of a big hillside? Its no more man made than the rest of the jumps on that track.

Somebody that has pull might have been riding in a water truck going up or down the water truck lane serving the uphill triple.

That was a sketchy ride as it was and they were hesitant to water the road at all because of what would happen if it got a little slick.

I remember a skid-steer doing track work slide a 1/3rd of the way down Mt St Helen in the early 2000's. The track had been hosed down and that thing got sideways and just started sliding. Could have been really ugly. People along the fence started freaking out. Operator got the blade down and it stopped.Blink

Uphill triple and section after it were two of the best portions of the track. Damn...

Seriously thought I was starting to lose it. Thank you for clarifying that because I could of sworn it had the chicane at the far end of the whoops.
