So long story short my truck got destroyed in the storm that went through Iowa a few weeks ago and all I have right now is my car. My question is how is the parking at Ironman? I see there’s a possibility of rain and I’m wondering if the parking lot becomes a mud hole in the rain? Or is the parking there a gravel lot and I could get along fine in a car? If not I’ll just rent a 4 wheel drive vehicle because at Millville last year it was like a full on mud bog just to get in and out of the parking lot. Thanks for any answers

As I recall it's cut grass and some gravel in other areas.

However, because of the weather and where you appear to be driving in from? (Assumed)
I'd get the 4 wheel drive rental and play it safe.
(I think you can get reimbursed for the rental on your truck's insurance...maybe...hopefully?)

Have a great time and be safe...wash your hands...yada, yada, yada...

This was 2018. Gravel on one side grass field on the other. Do yourself a favor and rent the 4wheel drive

I didn't know I could get an AWD Subaru stuck in the mud without really trying to do so. I realized I could at Ironman.

Yikes. Looks like I’ll be calling the rental company ASAP. This was Millville last year. Had one tractor dragging people out of the parking lot

It’s apparently part of that hurricane that’s down in the gulf and it’s supposed to be moving up through the Midwest later this week

If you do take your car, keep your momentum up in the turns and hold her wide open in the straights....
Enjoy the race, it’s a great track!

I’ve always driven my small car to Ironman without any issues. I go every year. When I checked weather yesterday it only showed rain on Thursday and Friday

Get a wide Royal Purple seat cushion. Rental vehicles always have rock hard seats. I rented a new Silverado in June, Seats where like stone. With that seat cushion, you,ll be fresh as a daisy, on your arrival.

Just park in the travel across the road if it rains. We park there every year for easy access leaving after the event.
