It was really rocky up the top. Jeffrey Herlings was involved in the decision and explained it all in our post-race pod, which should be up shortly.

How old is Pichons lad? He wasn't going too badly in the second MX2 race.

So what do people think of this then? Start is concrete for those who don't know.
Completely defeats the point in the concrete start but I guess when there isn't a rule stopping you why not do it. Surely if everyone started doing it they would put a rule in place?

Edit: Just found this video which gives another look at the start

Looks like Herlings and Paulin were in a different race rom the rest Grinning

I doubt they're too bothered with it being a warm up race. Nothing stopping the others from building ramps if they want to.

The best laptimes of the top five we're really close.
Thats cos they were all close all day... Coldenhoff was running good pace, , Herlings was sat in Behind him, but Paulin and Anstie were right there, nobody was cruising.

Its good he gets to ride, he is an amateur guy who has been on 2 strokes a while, i know i commentated on him a few times when he ran an RM250 in the 450 class... the race is a bit of a mish -mash really, you get the cream that HIMX can afford to get in, last few years have been a great entry in MX1 and MX2, a decent entry of GP runners, and some new hires, and a load of fast locals... but a bunch of top British guys skip it , some were at the AX the night before trying to beat some random french guys, while the biggest domestic MX crowd of the year stood in the freezing cold to watch a great event, that their sponsors should have been in front of . I just dont get it.

At least the British Champion is setting himself for a crack at GP's , Graham Irwin taking his #1 plate to a team that will put him where he needs to be.

And Searle? His best laptime time was within half a second of Herlings best.
I wasn't lucky enough to be there but his times seem to improve as the day went on ?

He had a mediocre start in race 1, and came through, but the front guys were long gone, Race 2 & 3 he got off with them and hung on, looking comfy, doing it, had a good battle with Pauls Jonass in the superfinal, and he was hauling.

The track got better all day , and it didnt rut up as bad as in past years , the HIMX team rolled it hard before winter so it wasnt slop like it has been in other years, track prep was on point IMO, just the hill that cut up because they couldnt get up there to do the same.. without the rain saturday it would have been perfect, as it was , it was still really good.

Searle deffo looked best at the end of race 3 , more flow than he showed in the first 2

That's great news for a Searle fan like me, hope he has a turn around season and shows some of the success he had in mx2.
I just hope all the riders stay healthy and make 2018 a year to be talked about for ages.

It was an awesome day if a little cold...

I can’t help feeling a little disappointed in Paulin, there was never any doubt that Herlings would pass Coldenhof when he was playing cat and mouse chasing him but you just knew Paulin wouldn’t make the pass too and really worry the 84... There was only one championship contender in the 450s... 250s were good, the 250 2strokes mixed in... were no where near the front, I know the riders weren’t the fastest but I thought they might gate well against the 250fs... And yes Barry Turnbull was rad again on his big CR500!!!
