Yep good read, an interesting person. Fascinating especially talking about his early years and how riders train today.

David is cool AF and has always been 100% straight up honest. He also has always been generous and went out of his way for people when called upon. I miss how much he used to participate on message boards and share insight on racing and tracks.

Good luck in whatever you are working on Cobra !

I always liked the guy. Glad to hear he was smart with his money and lives a modest lifestyle.

Many ex pros have just totally left riding Mx as they got older. Seems like Moto was always just what he did for a living. He doesn't come across as a guy I would want training me. Most riders are just trying to survive laps of practice because there is little room for messing up on a sx track. The old tracks had a lot more margin for error.

It's hard for me to remember as a guy who raced for years and still rides now that many people in the industry have never ridden, don't care about riding and moto is just their livelihood.

His opinions on training are spot on I think.

Very good racer, obviously.

He always comes off a bit like he's trying to steal Hannah's curmudgeon schtick, though, with the "everyone these days sucks" attitude. I suppose that there is a little bit of that in all of us, since we all walked 12 miles to school, uphill both ways, through 3 feet of snow covering 5 feet of quicksand......... Cool

I don't doubt for a minute that he could be a good coach of technique, but if he comes off in real life with the same negativity as in media, his good messages could be totally lost on his students.

Loved watching the guy ride, though! Glad that he was one of the smart guys who had the squirrel mentality and stocked up some nuts, too! He was obviously smart enough to realize that the rest of his life was just as important as the current moment.

I wish DV did riding schools, I know he doesn't need the money but to learn from a guy like that would be the best.

Technique wise and line choices he can teach like none other, I would definitely pay for that kind of riding school.

Good article and DV is a badass. Glad to see him doing things his way and not giving two shits about what other people think. Also, obviously not being around him but from what he posts and the things I see on social media he seems like a great dad and someone who is letting their kids find their own way in life. Which I think kids today are missing.

Great article. DV really has his "factory ECU" installed when it comes to having his head on straight.
