Doing a new seat cover and wanted to know what size staples you guys use, any tips or tricks to get the job done... only staples I have currently are way too long and the only staple guns I have are way too powerful.. sent one straight through the seat Laughing

Little tip, put the seat cover in the dryer for 10-20 min.

I use 3/16" or 1/4" staples , using an pneumatic arrow staple gun. Have the pressure up to about 115lbs or so. usually if it's about 110 or below , the staples don't quite seat.

I have been using 3/8" staples in my Craftsman pneumatic stapler.

Where you guys picking up 1/4" staples at? I have never run across any...

You guys ever spray the top of the seat foam w/ contact cement to make the cover stick and not slide or move less?

Absolutely not.

Sometimes I use no contact cement at all.

If your cover is moving, you do not have it tight enough!

TTP. On one of my old CR’s, when gripper seats first came out, the truck was to install new seat over oem seat to either add my cushion, or so it doesn’t slip, I can’t remember. Is that still a thing, or is it standard to just pull and install? 19 YZ450..

I know about the too long of staple thing.Years ago I was trying to put on a seat cover and used the kitchen counter at my girlfriends house for a work bench, now the counter top was not an expensive granite or marble but a nice no damage or blemishes counter top, some composite thing, looked nice. Well after I put a few staples in I picked up the seat to re position it and noticed the staples had gone through the seat base and my new cover, girlfriend noticed the counter top with little chips in it, She was furious and rightfully so as she just had the kitchen redone.i had it repaired and it looks fine. I thought I had put in the short staples which I did but I didn't get all the longer staples out of the staple gun first. oops
So use the 1/4" staples and check to make sure your staple gun is empty before putting in the correct staples.

I use an electric stapler with the shortest staples I can find as well as let the cover sit in the sun for a few minutes to soften it up. Pull it tighter than you think you should and you’ll be good.

Hey Whymee , I'm not sure what stapler you're using an Arrows PT50 and these 1/4" ( 6mm ) Staples. They have a real sharp end on them and seat really well at about 115lbs of air. I do also use a little bit of 3m 77 spray adhesive to help keep the foam in place while I staple. Works pretty good.
