I grew up / live in a small suburb bounded by a River and the Mountains that has a Golf Course through part of it. So, when I wasn't playing competitive team sports, as a school sport (Wednesdays were our 'sports' days), we'd often opt for the 'skivvers / lets run amok' (well that's what we regarded it as) sport of golf. just for a shit stir. Played it, was pretty good at it, and, one of our crew became a mid level Pro. But it was for comic relief only for most of us.We played very unconventionally.
I'd never play the bloody game again. What's that line? - Golf ruins a good walk? Even / especially with my neighbour constantly asking me along. I drive / ride around the local streets, looking at the jumps and whoops we rode our trail bikes on as a kid = said local golf course. We kept off the greens though, and stuck to 'the rough'. In the 70s, the club put up with us doing that. It was a pretty relaxed time, my Youth.
It just so doesn't interest me. But, there's a shit load of money in it, on first appearances.
But, I'd not be surprised that the percentages of participants to successful (monetarily) participants is just like MX - or any other sport. You / your Kids, have a Piss Poor chance of success in it, in other words.
And i feel stupid for posting in it.
But seriously, every sport is different and requires different athletic talent. And remember, a lot of pro motocross racers play golf. And I don't hear any of them talking about joining the PGA tour when they retire!!
