Not to mention those of us permanently disabled from racing MX....worst injury from Golf doesn't come close. But hey, given the choice I'd still choose MX because it's who I am.

Ricky Bobby is not a golfer....Ricky Bobby is a Racer.

Guys around here talk like golf is easy and cheapLaughing By the time you get your kids into it, pay a swing coach, buy clubs, pay green fees, etc it’s not going to be cheap anymore. I played all through high school and it’s by far the hardest sport I’ve ever played, and it will absolutely slaughter you mentally. One day you’re absolutely killing it, then the next you just can’t do anything right! If you don’t have your own swing coach it’s pretty tough to be competitive even within your state, I always just played for fun and tried to put in the best rounds I could, which usually wasn’t very impressive in the grand scheme of things. Those guys are athletes no matter how people try to spin it, the coordination and precision they have is unreal, as well as the mental resolve.

I don't understand the point of your post. Listing the top 50 golfers salaries, compared to injured riders?? Golf is way more popular, just a fact. You think Justin Bogle should make as much as Rickie Fowler?? Everyone knows how dangerous the sport is, but ask any injured rider and they can't wait to get back on the bike again. Don't be that guy who starts comparing MX/SX salaries to NFL/NBA/GOLF/MLB. I love moto but it will never be as popular as any of those, the TV deals alone blow Moto out of the water.

A mate of mine just got tied 7th in a European tour event and won €27,000. He didn’t break any bones either.

But dude, they just hit a ball and ride around in a golf cart. Easy as pie...right?

Get your kids to play tennis. Low injury risk and good chances of getting a scholarship.

Decades ago, Motocourse (the yearly Road Race Journal /Coffee Table book), had a comparison of what Eddie Lawson , as a World 500cc Champion, (see what I mean by decades ago) made in prize money against both the USPGA and the European PGA.

It was just as huge as now.

I grew up / live in a small suburb bounded by a River and the Mountains that has a Golf Course through part of it. So, when I wasn't playing competitive team sports, as a school sport (Wednesdays were our 'sports' days), we'd often opt for the 'skivvers / lets run amok' (well that's what we regarded it as) sport of golf. just for a shit stir. Played it, was pretty good at it, and, one of our crew became a mid level Pro. But it was for comic relief only for most of us.We played very unconventionally.Woohoo

I'd never play the bloody game again. What's that line? - Golf ruins a good walk? Even / especially with my neighbour constantly asking me along. I drive / ride around the local streets, looking at the jumps and whoops we rode our trail bikes on as a kid = said local golf course. We kept off the greens though, and stuck to 'the rough'. In the 70s, the club put up with us doing that. It was a pretty relaxed time, my Youth.

It just so doesn't interest me. But, there's a shit load of money in it, on first appearances.

But, I'd not be surprised that the percentages of participants to successful (monetarily) participants is just like MX - or any other sport. You / your Kids, have a Piss Poor chance of success in it, in other words.

Takes a special kid to put time into a sport like Golf. And who wouldn't want to blast around paddocks with ya mates when your'e 10. Motocross is way cooler than Golf, the girls like a dirt bike rider better too. Who cares about the money, it's about loving what you do, especially when you are younger. I don't think there's to many parents out their that get the kids into motocross at 4yrs old thinking about making millions. Although the Mini Moto Dads sound pretty hard core.

Any activity that you can show up to and be competitive in while chain smoking and being 50lbs overweight isn't a freaking sport and to call golfers "athletes" is laughable.

LOL. You guys are nuts! I kid my buddy that golf isn't a "sport", it's a "game"! You know, kinda like cornhole! LOL
But seriously, every sport is different and requires different athletic talent. And remember, a lot of pro motocross racers play golf. And I don't hear any of them talking about joining the PGA tour when they retire!!
