Fogo de choa is really good as well as Harry and Izzys. Try the shrimp cocktail at Harry and izzys. They make their own cocktail sauce and it will most definitely clear your sinuses.

There is a pretty cool museum by the Speedway that's worth checking out. There is a lot of cool eateries and such all within walking distance of the stadium. I've not been in a few years but never missed from 96-2008 or so. I liked the old RCA dome better myself but the new one is cool. Have fun at the race.

I like to say that I am going for the racing, but really I am going for the shrimp cocktail at Harry and Izzy's (St. Elmo's, its the same thing, right next to each other). Prepare to have your sinuses cleared!

As you come into the airport, there are always a couple cool examples of historic Indycars...usually one at each concourse, plus another display car in the center section.

You're a race fan. For sure go to the Speedway Museum. There's a lot of cool history in there. I've also done the Speedway tour, but I was sick (and half delerious with a fever) when I did it, so I don't remember much. I'd do it again. Smile

A stop by Dallara (1201 N Main St, Speedway, IN 46224) is also cool, and close to the Speedway. One of our members works there, and Steve Cox and I got the behind the scenes tour a few years back. But there are some cool displays out front.

I looked at a few of the big race teams (Don Schumacher Racing, Andretti Autosport, Ganassi), and it looks like they don't have much for tours.

Have fun!

Bring a coat, I guess Indy is supposed to get hammered with 8-12 inches of snow.

There's that, too. Teams will be well-huddled in their rigs this weekend.

Thank you all for the input... Harry and Izzy's looks to be a bit friendlier on the wallet than st.elmos lol. Hopefully the snow doesn't impede us too much.

I think Harry and Izzy's and St Elmo's share a kitchen so the shrimp cocktail is the same.

There is also a pretty good BBQ place over by the Speedway http://www.barbecueandbourbon.com/ right by the Indy Car race shops. Not sure if they do tours but you could check.

Amen to that. Best cocktail shrimp ever. Got reservations for Sunday just in case it's busy.

Check out 1911 Grill in Speedway as well as the museum.
Its a really cool place. It's owned by ex-indycar driver Sara Fisher.

They have a bar/restaurant that overlooks a 2 level indoor cart track.
Foods good and reasonably priced. Plus it's fun to watch and drive the carts. Bring your own helmet and goggles if you want to drive a cart.
Then right across the street is Bigwoods Brewery if you're into craft beer.

Weather looks fine. Sunny and 40's on Thur/Fri. 40's on Saturday with a little snow/rain mix.
Typical Indiana weather. lol

I like a place called "The Eagle" that's speciality is fried chicken. It's so good. If you like fried chicken, this place has the best. Also there is a decent strip club near the stadium lol.
