It's been talked here in many occasions, like a some of possibilitys in the future. But years to come it's more and more possible.
IMO in the short future there will be just two strong dirt bike related series. MX in the states, and MXGP worldwide. There will be clearly pros who focused just in on of those the series. SX growing more and more in the US, and MX growing in Europe. In the future there will be guys who will be focused just for SX and the other ones who lives just for MX. And the future already here

The Shop
- The problems with this idea are that each series currently employs a ton of riders and race teams, which I'm sure would be downsized if both series were combined.
- Most of the smaller USA teams wouldn't have the budget to travel abroad.
- Combining both series would leave a lot of talent fighting for the same 40 person gate (maybe make a larger capacity gate?)
- Where does SX fall into this equation?
I would love to see both talent pools combined. The racing would be incredible!! But there are 3 super powers (SX/US MX/MXGP) that would all have to work together and compromise to make that happen. Without a ton of money in this industry as we know, it just doesn't seem likely to ever happen..
I personally wouldn't want this to happen as I love watching both series' and if the trade off is that the AMA guys lose a bit of MX skillset then I say so be it. SX and MX both offer an extremely interesting perspective on the sport but if things go the way you think then you're going to lose all your outdoor tracks and youll be sending your kids to learn on SX tracks which will inevitably result in more injuries due to the steeper learning curve.
I hope both promoters figure out a sustainable way to keep both in future for the sake of everyone
We’d still have some outdoor motocross races in the country, FIM would get more SX races, but FIM would own it all and no more mx sports/ AMA so that would suck
But this isn’t a perfect world. That would be incredible imo
The cost of bikes has made them a toy for the wealthy and that means if the OEMs wanna sell enough bikes, they have to market them to urbanites.
They need to get better camera crews for filming MX that show how epic the obstacles are. None of this wide angle stuff that makes a 100 foot jump look like its 40 feet. Go back to wide angle shots if there's actually a battle, but focus on the difficulty of the terain if they're all spread out.
So, in other words, MXSPORTS, and The Nationals, are doomed?
Either the guys from Morgantown kinda join up with Youthstream, or sell out, however you want to put it?
Remember, that any decisions regarding these things are going to be based on who can make more money by doing it, and who will lose money if they don't do it.
I don't see what the impetus would be for MX Sports Pro Racing, Inc. to give up their series.
Pit Row
secondary series if they get their way.
I've heard talk of them wanting to go 20 events.
Say they get that, and in a few years, want more. How about 30? At that point, our Nationals will either shrink
to a few rounds, or become a secondary kind of series, like the British, Japanese or Bolivian Championships.
Then what, 2 or 3 American guys hopefully latch on and be accepted by YS, and get the honor of running with them,
while the rest run local AMA District events?
WTF?
Its amateur MX racing that gives birth to all the rest.
I feel if pro MX fades in America, amateur MX will fade. And the talent in the sport will also shrink, and long term dirt bike racing sports ultimately shrink.
I just don't see those 2 promoters working together.
Look, even if MXSPORTS went to the AMA, and said, we need to put a cap, freeze the number of events Feld can run,
they'd probably just laugh. Effin AMA doesn't even hold the rights to Supercross in the USA. Idiots sold them years ago, and have been resold over and over. Effin tail is waggin the dog on that one.
I'd like to see them demand the above, and add or 4 Nationals at the end, but like I said, I doubt they'd get it.
Morgantown went rouge with GNCC for a few years when nobody wanted to run a National CrossCountry series.
I don't know, but I think AMA recognizes them now. But they did a heck of a job without them. Someone is gonna run a National Motocross Series here, hopefully imo, it's MXSPORTS.
Well, I wish them luck with the overseas stuff. Selling SX over there doesn't seem to be easy.
As far as renewing contracts, I thought as long as the promoter hasn't screwed up, and put the AMA in a bad light,
as long as they pay the AMAs price, they can do what they want with that venue.
I mean, unless it's written somewhere in their contract, seems to me if Field wanted to run events till Fathers Day,
they could.
Anyone know for sure if I'm right or wrong?
Jesus Christ.......how about learning from it , getting better , faster , stronger and fighting for it again next year!
I get the idea from some of you guy's that we should just quit MX , because we got beat? Thankfully most do not feel this way , and refuse to quit! I hate seeing and reading shit like this from my fellow countrymen. Sad as hell , and quite honestly pisses me off.
Post a reply to: In the future there will be just two different main series. SX and MXGP. Both series with the different guys to cheer
