It's been talked here in many occasions, like a some of possibilitys in the future. But years to come it's more and more possible.
IMO in the short future there will be just two strong dirt bike related series. MX in the states, and MXGP worldwide. There will be clearly pros who focused just in on of those the series. SX growing more and more in the US, and MX growing in Europe. In the future there will be guys who will be focused just for SX and the other ones who lives just for MX. And the future already here

I like the idea. However all pros compete. We have world supercross and world motocross championships. All riders should do both.

As much as it hurts me to say this.............I would prefer the US Nationals go away and riders focus on only 1 discipline. FIM SX only or FIM MXGP only. The USA Factory Teams should employ 1 Supercross only rider and 1 Motocross only rider for 250/450. Pay both the same. They are two completely different sports now and should have specialists for each discipline.

i dont like. but i think its an inevitability given that the two series are no longer ran by one entity

I hope not because if washougal loses its national track status it would be more likely to get shut down. That's what helped keep it going in the past and I believe a few other tracks are in a similar situation.

What if the MXGP and MX Nat series combined and had way more US races, essentially like a US tour of our tracks (like 6-8 races) at some point within the schedule, then all the teams pack up and go to Europe and wherever else to complete the rest of the world tour. The US fans would still have all our home races (for the most part) and all the talent from each series would be combined into one mega championship....

- The problems with this idea are that each series currently employs a ton of riders and race teams, which I'm sure would be downsized if both series were combined.
- Most of the smaller USA teams wouldn't have the budget to travel abroad.
- Combining both series would leave a lot of talent fighting for the same 40 person gate (maybe make a larger capacity gate?)
- Where does SX fall into this equation?

I would love to see both talent pools combined. The racing would be incredible!! But there are 3 super powers (SX/US MX/MXGP) that would all have to work together and compromise to make that happen. Without a ton of money in this industry as we know, it just doesn't seem likely to ever happen..

If there is a concern about "deathcross" and the riders losing touch with the worlds best, then why not boycott SX?

I personally wouldn't want this to happen as I love watching both series' and if the trade off is that the AMA guys lose a bit of MX skillset then I say so be it. SX and MX both offer an extremely interesting perspective on the sport but if things go the way you think then you're going to lose all your outdoor tracks and youll be sending your kids to learn on SX tracks which will inevitably result in more injuries due to the steeper learning curve.

I hope both promoters figure out a sustainable way to keep both in future for the sake of everyone

I'd prefer to just do away with supercross all together and then have the top US riders go to the GPs. It'll never happen but I can dream.

I’ve been thinking this for a while. How sick would it be if the MXGP nationals held at least 5 races in the states, and SX became 20 rounds (or whatever they want to do with it) then when kids come out of AMs they choose which discipline they want to race. Maybe do mxgp series for a year then jump SX only. Maybe even make SX for 450s only, cutting down on TV slot time, fixing the current problem of top 250 guys making way more money than top 450 guys, and create more 450 rides.
We’d still have some outdoor motocross races in the country, FIM would get more SX races, but FIM would own it all and no more mx sports/ AMA so that would suck

But this isn’t a perfect world. That would be incredible imo

No way they'll get rid of supercross at this point. I live in the sticks but when I go to Oakland and SF I see more people joyriding bikes in the streets than I do where I'm from.

The cost of bikes has made them a toy for the wealthy and that means if the OEMs wanna sell enough bikes, they have to market them to urbanites.

They need to get better camera crews for filming MX that show how epic the obstacles are. None of this wide angle stuff that makes a 100 foot jump look like its 40 feet. Go back to wide angle shots if there's actually a battle, but focus on the difficulty of the terain if they're all spread out.

Why take guys talents away? A lot of the elite guys are good at both, some tried to be good at both and were not and some never even tried SX. You can be good in both, just a couple years ago you had a guy win supercross races, national races and GPs in the same year. What if your that good and you can win in all disciplines?

Get rid of feld and luongo. Make indoor tracks with bumps and sand, and run outdoor too.

So, in other words, MXSPORTS, and The Nationals, are doomed?
Either the guys from Morgantown kinda join up with Youthstream, or sell out, however you want to put it?

Fuck SX. Make it 8-10 rounds starting the first weekend of February with a couple of weekends off which will drag it into the good weather. Its one step advanced from the Monster Jam buffoonery.

Opposite of doomed. Setting up the sport world wide for the greatest opportunity for the greatest amount of professional racers in the 2 completely different disciplines of the sport. Everyone wins especially the fans who pay the bills through bike purchases, gear, parts, tickets, etc.

That thought process is flawed. Crazy to expect anyone to race more than 30 out of 52 weeks per year at the top echelon's of the sport.

So, the USA gets maybe 2 or 3 rounds of GP Motocross, and Feld gets the rights to SX Worldwide?

Daytona follow cam crushes any other angles at any other time of the year imo

Why would this happen? I assume MX Sports and Feld are both making money promoting their series. And the various manufacturers must be satisfied with their return on investment for sponsoring riders in those series. If they weren't, they wouldn't do it.

Remember, that any decisions regarding these things are going to be based on who can make more money by doing it, and who will lose money if they don't do it.

I don't see what the impetus would be for MX Sports Pro Racing, Inc. to give up their series.

When you think about it, Feld, the Circus guy's, could, if they get their way, squeeze the AMA Nationals into a kind of
secondary series if they get their way.

I've heard talk of them wanting to go 20 events.

Say they get that, and in a few years, want more. How about 30? At that point, our Nationals will either shrink
to a few rounds, or become a secondary kind of series, like the British, Japanese or Bolivian Championships.
Then what, 2 or 3 American guys hopefully latch on and be accepted by YS, and get the honor of running with them,
while the rest run local AMA District events?

WTF?

I honestly believe in the near future we will see this. I can't imagine another outcome, hopefully not but time will tell.

Heard from a pretty good source that the nationals may be going away sooner than everyone thinks and SX is going to be extended. Hope I’m wrong but supposedly there’s some kind of big contract up in a few years with feld and the SX series and once it gets renewed that’s where the races will be extended. 20+ races with international rounds in there too.

American pro racers (MX and SX) are built from local amateur MX tracks.
Its amateur MX racing that gives birth to all the rest.
I feel if pro MX fades in America, amateur MX will fade. And the talent in the sport will also shrink, and long term dirt bike racing sports ultimately shrink.

I just don't see those 2 promoters working together.

Look, even if MXSPORTS went to the AMA, and said, we need to put a cap, freeze the number of events Feld can run,
they'd probably just laugh. Effin AMA doesn't even hold the rights to Supercross in the USA. Idiots sold them years ago, and have been resold over and over. Effin tail is waggin the dog on that one.
I'd like to see them demand the above, and add or 4 Nationals at the end, but like I said, I doubt they'd get it.

Morgantown went rouge with GNCC for a few years when nobody wanted to run a National CrossCountry series.
I don't know, but I think AMA recognizes them now. But they did a heck of a job without them. Someone is gonna run a National Motocross Series here, hopefully imo, it's MXSPORTS.

Well, I wish them luck with the overseas stuff. Selling SX over there doesn't seem to be easy.
As far as renewing contracts, I thought as long as the promoter hasn't screwed up, and put the AMA in a bad light,
as long as they pay the AMAs price, they can do what they want with that venue.

I mean, unless it's written somewhere in their contract, seems to me if Field wanted to run events till Fathers Day,
they could.

Anyone know for sure if I'm right or wrong?

I guess nothing say's " We're the best "........by throwing in the towel!

Jesus Christ.......how about learning from it , getting better , faster , stronger and fighting for it again next year!

I get the idea from some of you guy's that we should just quit MX , because we got beat? Thankfully most do not feel this way , and refuse to quit! I hate seeing and reading shit like this from my fellow countrymen. Sad as hell , and quite honestly pisses me off.

Hold 10 SXs in the states and one SX each in Europe, Asia and Australia/NZ. Afterwards start the MXGP season with ~5 races in the states. Leave the all the national series for the up and coming and as steppingstone to the big class.

The more series the better. With only one big championship only 10 riders would make a decent living on the whole world.
