In Reno, Nevada next week for work - anything worth checking out??

Edited Date/Time 7/18/2020 9:12am
I'll be in Reno (Verdi to be more specific) next week Mon-Fri for work.. Any cool bike shops or moto / dirt bike related stuff worth checking out when I've got some free time?

Life long east coast guy here, so I really enjoy soaking in the the west coast moto, off road and desert riding scene anytime I have the chance to do it. Thanks in advance for any advice

Hey man, moon rocks is going to be your best bet (all the local Moto tracks are shut down).

The Moto shops pretty much have no dirt bikes in them right now but the shops worth checking out would be BVH (Big Valley Honda) Reno Kawasaki, Moto source, RMS Reno motor sports, and Michaels Powersports in south Reno.

You can get from one side of Reno to the other in about 15 min. Peavine mountain also has some fun desert riding up in the trees.

Prosser Dam is up towards truckee which is also a good spot to check out.
I would head for the trees/mountains cause it's hot!

There’s a good track that just opened in Fernley but they aren’t always open. Look them up on insta @95mc

Also go to Prosser, it’s fun. I ride there all the time (I live not far from there). Has a beat up track, lots of good trails and open track space to link things together. The views and weather are generally unbeatable.

Also Moonrocks in Reno if you want off-road down there.

Good luck!

Go to Lake Tahoe

God's country

Go up to Heavenly In (South Lake Tahoe), the ski area, you can hike and they have a rope course and a coaster ride thing during spring/summer season

Whole area is beautiful any time of year

Rent an SUV and go off roading. The Ford Taurus I rented in the 90s didn't do so well. I hear it's still out there, near Pyramid Lake.

The track in Fernley is legit. There was a fire in Peavine (Poeville Fire) so access might be limited. I second Dave, I definitely would check out Tahoe, once in a lifetime experience being up there.

Nothing that’s a must see for a moto scene, but it doesn’t matter with Tahoe a 20 minute drive from where you’ll be. Spend every free moment you can up there.

Last weekend I created this post in hopes of getting feedback like what most of you provided, as I expected - thank you to all who chimed in....

HUGE shout out to Vital user Paul Mudd who didn't even post in this thread, he just sent me a message inviting me to his own personal moto compound on 50 acres north of Reno. I'm not sure which is crazier - inviting a stranger from the internet to your house just because he's into moto.. or going to some stranger from the internet's house just because he's into moto haha.... I could tell that Paul seemed like a genuine dude, so drove on over and man am I glad I did!!!

Paul's got a pretty bitchin MX/FMX riding spot right there on his property. Between watching Paul huck some ramps, enjoying Coors Lights, bench racing, losing I mean hitting golf balls, oh and the killer grilled BBQ chicken Paul made - - I'm just so damn thankful for this sport, the amazingly cool people that I've met and am proud to now call a friend, like Paul!

Thanks again Paul!! Looking forward to linking up again down the road! PS: There's a package delivering to your house this week... Smile

It was great having you out at the casa Blake. Crazy how this little world works sometimes.... respond to a message on the web and the next thing you know your riding, bench racing and enjoying a beer with a complete stranger from the other side of the country. I'm one that still believes there are waaay more good peeps in this world then bad.

Good times for sure my friend !!! I'll try get my bbq skills up to North Carolina standards next time... and work on my golf skills. Laughing

Curious why you didn't post that pic of you riding the quad ?!? haha
