Damn dude, sorry that happened to you. Think you are making a wise decision having 2 prior concussions and now a third. Each subsequent concussion is worse on our brains, and they happen easier each time.

Super awesome looking RM-Z btw. Love the retro yellow & blue and the period appropriate silver rims too.

Best of luck to you!

I’m going to say this- and take it how you will.. but..

“Vloggers” that narrate while riding are asking to have wipeouts. There is no time to narrate or be thinking about what an audience will think as they watch this type of video.. while riding. As soon as I heard the guy start talking while riding I already knew he was going to make a mental error and slam.

There are a handful of A and Pro riders that can narrate while riding. Novice riders need to be putting every literal thought into what they’re doing. *Especially* when they jump on a bike they aren’t accustomed to. The same as how boxing coaches can narrate what they’re doing while they light their student up, but can’t do the same the other way around.

Sorry you crashed though. Downvote on your clickbait video title.

Sorry to hear, you have a nice speed Wink

You may continue by trying to go more conservately (easier said than done, last time i tried i can't but many can get that "enduro style").

About the crash, yes it is an overjump but i think the crash came from not having a finger on the clutch, the bike seems to have stalled mid air when correcting her with the rear brake. (With some gas on, I think the suspensions would have absorbed the impact)

I don't know if it helps, but if it can, here is what i remember of Fred Vialle's advices he gave in a recent interview, to avoid injuries (he had some big ones but never broke a bone in 15 years of pro racing);
- always a finger on the clutch (as this crash)
- never sit on the take off (anytime you sit you are a passenger, and a mechanical can always happen)
- stand up as much as possible ("anytime you sit you are a passenger")
- don't scrub (can catch a peg...)
- when trying a new jump, jump a bit front wheel high to have possibilities to correct the bike
- ride within your limits, especially in term of fitness (don't push your fitness on the bike, to stay "in control")
(- from my personal experience don't go for the last lap of the day)
- warm up more the older you get, a bit yoga style for the shoulder, wrist, knee, etc
- of course always with full protections (gear but also insurance)
- (last but not least, if you can maybe avoid tracks with big stuffs, it is always too tempting Wink and i think the way many tracks are designed are pushing out many vets who are more aware of their family and job responsibilities)

In all cases Good Luck !

Ah man, i know the feeling. I just had a similar crash a few months back that knocked the wind out of me and left me gasping for air like you. Definitely rough to watch, and even rougher to experience. I, too, started thinking it was time to hang up the boots, and started thinking about selling all of my bikes and what not. But the thing is, i love this sport way too much, and it seems like you do too. I took 2-3 months off the bike and really reflected on what went wrong. Sure the sport is dangerous, but there is NO OTHER activity that brings as much enjoyment into my life as motocross does. Just have to respect those risks, and think twice about sending jumps on a bike that isn't set up for you and you aren't comfortable on. I know how demo days go for some people, because i'm guilty of it from time to time. You're amongst a bunch of moto dudes, on fresh new bikes, and everyone is standing in line waiting to ride while watching guys out on the track. You get a sense that you have to look like you're a good rider, and sometimes this makes you ride a little over your head.

Seriously man, reflect on all that and come out stronger. When life gives you lemons, make the best damn lemonade you can out of it.

Also, glad you and your wife are OK in the automobile crash. Vehicles can be replaced.

Here's a clip of that crash i had, maybe it'll help you cope or something. I dunno:

Haha It really is. Nothing you or anyone else can do for you. What really pisses me off about it is when someone does come up to help, they want to play 20 questions and you can’t talk. I didn’t answer your first question, not sure why you’re expecting me to answer 19 more. Laughing

Yeah, the best thing I’ve learned is to not to try and gasp for breath. Basically you just have to hold your breath and kinda flex your chest muscles until you can feel that pressure go away once you realize you’ve knocked the wind out of yourself. Seems like that helped or maybe it has just happened to me so often that I don’t freak out when I can’t breath, I dunno!

It is the worst though!

Bad crashes? Done? Not to start a pissing contest, but if you don't want to ride, don't ride. A crash shouldn't make you quit riding. Can't have no in your heart!!! My crash... I was done... for a year, the doctor told me to not ride for that long and I rode 364 days after this crash. 2 weeks in a coma, 3.5 months of rehab, I enjoy riding. Car crashes kill more people every day than riding dirt bikes does in a year, not many forsake the car ride each day. Crashes come with the territory.

Crash is within :47 - 1:10 of video

Hello, my name is TriRacer27 and I'm addicted to dirt bikes...

Seriously, I've quit all things dirtbike related a few times in my life. It's rough, and you definitely had a tough string of luck there. The sport will be here when you're ready, take the time you need. If you're gonna ride scared you won't enjoy it and then what's the point? And if you never feel the desire to throw a leg over a bike again, that's fine too. You should only do this if you really enjoy it.

As for me, I swear I've quit for good. Just one more race in Cash TX this weekend and I'll be DONE!

i've had harder get-offs while unloading

dust yourself off and get back on that horse. and my advice is quit giving a shit about the view-count and go ride your dirt bike.

If you managed to wad a demo bike like that in two laps, maybe you do need to look for a new hobby.

Because a crash can happen anytime to anyone. Give Dean Wilson a call and tell him maybe he should take up a different hobby.

I have said I am done many times. Easy to say when you are hurt. Once I feel better I plan on just one more ride to quit on my terms. Next ride usually I ride scared. I decide I want a better ride to quit on. Next, I say I will just ride and not race. Soon I say I will race but I will not take chances. Before I know it I am riding fast and racing. A few years later I crash hard, get injured and say I quit again. Addiction sucks.

I've quit this sport many times only to get the bug and come back......you'll be back. You will heal up and forget about the pain...but not the fun. I remember quitting moto in the late 80's because I was just tired of being hurt all the time......so I started racing stand up jet ski's and soon after broke my jaw in 2 places......

You know what always seems to trigger a comeback for me? I really miss nothing about riding except for the feeling you get when you absolutely rail a bermed corner.... That shit keeps me coming back...

I'm 62 yrs and have no plans on quitting MX anytime soon despite fusion surgery in Sept. I'll be taking a full yr off for the bone graft to properly heal and then slowly start training. My latest x-ray revealed the bone graft is growing.
