In my neck of the woods it was Reynard and occasionally Windham.

There was no 125 class when I turned 16. (Kind of like now, eh?) In 1970, in the 250's: Joel Robert, Torleif Hanson, Heikki Mikkola were the GP guys to beat. I don't think a US National Champion was crowned in 1970, other than giving the title to the highest placing US rider at the TransAm.

I would've turned 16 just in time to make my debut at Red Bud in '05. It would've been a late start to the season, with four rounds already complete, but in this fantasy scenario it's OK because I'd start winning right away and never let up. I do believe this would've netted me the title by GH, especially with Tedesco eventually cracking under the pressure of me being awesome.

Then of course I would've carried that momentum into '06, and for years the motocross world would really have to strain to ever hear of Ryan Villopoto.

Good topic.

I was racing Intermediate at this time, and although I wasn't against the list of guys above, I was against the slightly younger group, which was still just as competitive. Growing up in So-Cal is really hard to make a name for yourself.

I would have had to race these guys...

I was decently fast when I was 16, but I think Lechien on his works Honda would have easily toasted me like everyone else he did that year.

I'd have been 16 in time to get plenty of training in for 05sx, so Hot Sauce and Langston would have been my competition. Narrowly dodged the Bubba bullet!

Ward, O'Mara, Barnett, Lechien.

Probably a good thing I was just a 125 Int. at the time, they would have been in big trouble.....blink
