Windham and The Rock! Mike was always a badass and expected so much of himself. Also Stewart...Tongue

Am I the only one who thought MC was getting irritated with the KTM questions?

Open it up to factories, race teams, team managers, sanctioning bodies, promoters. Here's a few that come to mind:

- Factory Suzuki (US and Europe)
- RCH
- Mike Webb / Mike LaRocco
- AMA / FIM
- FELD / Eric Peronard

Agree.

Veni, vidi, vici. JMC was the Jules César of Motocross.

You think MC could have beat RC outdoors? Damn near RC's entire outdoor career was his prime. RCs worst outdoor season was better than MCs best. MC did not focus solely on SX until 1999 so the first decade of his career he raced MX.

Jeremy admitting that he let his ego cost him a championship.....no way! Always irritates me when someone mentions or compares him to The GOAT. He seriously takes offense at it and just about goes off the rails defending his King status. No need to be offended, decades later and still no one, I repeat NO ONE has come close to knocking on the door of his SX win record. Not even the FMOTP James Bubba Stewart could climb up to the level of McGraths nutsack to wipe the sweat off. That video up above of Bubba taking them both out and then McGrath coming back and showing him how a real man does it by making it look oh so easy is just one example of how good he really was on the bike.

Gotta love the brutal honesty and how he owns it when it comes to his own wins and losses.

You could always tell who Reed tried to pattern his riding style after. So smooth. Always seemed to have a lot of respect for Jeremy.

I remember being at a Des Nationals style race at Glen Helen with my dad(cant remember what it was called) and reed was there and I believe he was leading. My dad looked at me and said, "that guy rides a lot like McGrath. He's going to be a champion here." It was the first time I had ever seen Reed. I wish I remembered what that race was.. I remember someone posting a picture a few years ago of a shirt from that race

i've always been curious if a top mechanic knows all the specific torque tolerances on a machine. i mean, these guys tear the bike down every week, sometimes on race day. do they have a little black book with all the go-to torque numbers, or are they simply torque masters?

maybe Skip could fill us in?

That was the 2002 World Cup of Motocross held after the Comp Park Des Nations was canceled at the last minute. Team Australia won.

+1 to Guy Cooper. He always stops short of what he really wants to say about Suzuki. I'd really like to hear the full blown rant someday.

McGrath was still racing and running with the young guns when he was 36. James is now 32 and we don't even know if he is alive or dead.

Laughing Lackey , Pomeroy, Magoo, Hannah, Omara, Ward, Bradshaw,Bayle, Stanton, McGrath, Carmichael, Reed, Windham, Stewart....just a few of the great ones I have gotten to see race over the years. Good times, glad I was able to witness it all. Bummed that I missed out a lot from around 1981-88. Cars and girls Wink

I happened to be at Elsinore on a day when MC was out testing his KTM. They seemed to be putting a lot of work into it every time I went by where they were parked. I just remember there was a pretty big jump section in the middle of the track that most of the fast guys were landing on top of a step up table and then jumping down and headed into a 180 bowl turn. MC was out on the track when they brought out the water truck and riders started clearing off. I parked by said jump waiting to see if MC would clear it. I see him jump the big table before it, hit the flat left hander headed toward that section and go for it. He caught is back wheel on top of the last landing which sent him into a big endo. He barely gained control over the bike and shot over the bowl turn. He comes back around riding by slowly, looks at me and says "I don't want to do that again." I just yelled back you got it and waited for his next attempt. Next time through he clears it like it's nothing, puts it into the turn and disappears. Out of all the riders I've seen in my old So Cal days, watching MC tops the list for me.
