Do I have to pay for the maintenance/repairs?

If I have to pay for repairs/maintenance... Love 2 strokes and less costly to fix
KTM 250SX or KTM 300XC-W 2-stroke

If not...2013 KTM 450SX-F Factory edition...as long as I don't have to fix a grenaded engine!

KTM 150SX, duh.

Why? Every 2-stroke argument ever made:

I would probably see if I could get a KTM orange 05-08 KX front fender for it (then it would be the ultimate 150SX).

Now the unltimate would be for Service Honda to make a 150SX motor in an 05-07 CR125 frame.

Yes you have to pay for maintenance and repairs.... this question is about what NEW bike would YOU choose and WHY.

I am currently in the market for a new scooter and just wanted to get everyones opinion on the bike they feel is the "best" out on the market today. I'm leaning towards another 450 but a 2 stroke is not out of the question either. And PLEASE don't turn this into another 2 stroke vs 4 stroke thread. I like both and just want some honest opinions....

It would have to be a toss up between the RMZ 450 and the new CRF450, the RMZ because they have been known for one of the best handling bikes for quiet a few years now, the New CRF simply because it looks so bad ass, Tough question, with out having ridden both bikes I would take the gamble on the CRF.

KTM 300 XC or XC-W. Would need to ride both to see if I would like the wide ratio tranny. Always ridden MX bikes and am used to the close ratio tranny, but would like to try the W just to see if would like it. The enduro guys love it from what they tell me, I'm more of a HS racer, so not sure if the W is the way to go or not.

The new CRF but would prefer the 2008 CRF 450, because I know it was built right.

Probably a KXF450. I have never had a Kawi but I like the looks of that bike. Being a big man I think it would fit me better than the others according all the things i have seen about it. I will always keep my smoker though but getting older and not so quick I think it is acceptable to be a little lazy on 450. Cool

If you're leaning towards a 4-stroke get the new ktm. I've ridden them all but came away most impressed with the ktm. Feels light, turns awesome, and it feels really planted. Try one and you won't be disappointed.

lol that's what I was thinking Hut... I like the laziness of the 450!

Also I get arm pump pretty bad and my buddy told me to stay away from the 2 strokes cuz of the vibration. Said it would make my arm pump worse.

So I guess my question is... is the vibration THAT BAD on 2 strokes???

Thanks for the advice Deets... I'm coming off of an 09 KTM 450 SXF so believe I know how good the KTM's are these days. The new KTM 450 is definitely on my list as well....

I love 2 strokes, but the 4 strokes are nice too (until they break). I had worse arm pump on a 4 stroke due to the weight. For me, more riding reduces arm pump and you have to force yourself to loosen your grip to some degree. "Death Grip" causes me arm pump and I had "Death Grip" on my EXC525!

450 for lazy (no disrespect intended)
250-300 KTM 2-stroke for pure fun!

Your size and willingness to stay "fit" has some input. If I want to put around and play ride - 450, but if I want to go quicker, and push myself, I'd go 2 stroke...

350 KTM, 250 way too small for my weight, 450 not really in my line of sight.

I would wet my pants in public for a 350 KTM.

I wanna see the '13 RMZs before I make that decision. The '13 CRF 450 looks pretty awesome.

And yeah, a Service CR 500 would be pretty darned cool too...

Iv'e never owned a KXF or RMZ and I hear great things about both. RMZ owners can't say enough about how well it handles and the KXF is reportedly a great bike for the bigger rider like myself.

With that said, I think the new CRF looks utterly awesome.
I know you shouldn't go on looks but damn, it's the best looking bike Iv'e seen in some time.

Thanks for the advice EastFlorida! I'll definitely keep that in mind... kind of torn between the 4 and 2 right now...

I've been staring at that picture a worrying amount recently, I even like the new front fender, only problem is my brain shouting at me about how much my crf has depreciated Sad

2 strokes are fun but there is no comparison for the power of the 450.. The power those bikes have is addicting.. I have a kx 450
And it only cost me 170 to rebuild top end.. If You clean your air filter, change oil every couple rides, and make sure you keep her in time then you'll be fine.

If I bought a brand new one I think I would have to go with the crf 450 that thing is sick an I am a Kawi guy for sure

Gas Gas 200, but I'm a slow offroad guy so that answer probably doesn't help you.

KTM 250SX - Why, because I'm too fat for the 150! I do like the way they look and I also appreciate that KTM is still improving the 2-stroke technology.

12 KTM125. I love 125 two strokes, and they are more fun than a 150 in my opinion.
