Ok, Im dreaming here of course.

But it could be a great way to get familiar with 2 day format, ride the international competition & possibly pay Herlings back for gate crashing his party last year at Ironman.

I think down time not racing when your competition is coming in with their race face and race pace fresh off a previous round isn't a good situation for Team USA. I wish the last national was 2 weeks before the MXoN.. No more than that.

The MXoN AMA riders should ride one of the GPs. That’s a long layoff. I’d think they’d like to be in race mode at least once within a month before the MXoN.

If Tomac were at Assen though the best he could do is a 3-3.

Im a fan of both series & both riders.

If it were me in Tomac shoes I would hop over the pond & have a go. I dont see what harm it would do. If he won would be a great confidence boost for team usa & get in herlings head forsure.

Yes it's deep sand, but that isnt going to make you slower at red bud. Herlings grew up in the stuff & can dominate any surface.

I also lived next to a decent sand track (once used for GP) and in most peoples opinion if you could ride that place well you could ride anywhere. The same def cant be said for a lot of hard pack tracks.

I realize this is off topic, but I've seen enough of Herlings vs Tomac. How would Marv vs Cairoli go? We all know who is on top of each series, but how does their closest competition stack up against one another? I think Cairoli may have an edge but I don't think it would be a huge margin.

Herlings is arguably the best sand rider ever. Why would Tomac want to travel over seas to race Herlings at his home GP in the sand? I believe on a neutral track they are the two closest to each other in speed, but even ET probably wouldn't like his chances at Assen. Not much logic was put into the creation of this thread.

If there was a USGP then it would be worth it, but flying over to race Assen or Imola is a waste of time. They aren't going to learn anything and it's a lot of hassle to fly over for one race then go back.

The weeks off before the Nations can work either way. Their may be some rustiness there to shake off. But on the other hand, it gives them some time to recover, let any niggling injuries they may have heal, and then be 100% ready. The MXdN will be the 6th race in 7 weeks for the GP guys, so although they'll be well in the swing of racing, they won't be as fresh as they could be. It will probably even itself out
