If Ken makes it back...

How Does it rate with all time comebacks like Doug Henry or Trey Canard for example. This is not meant to be a weiner measuring excersise...just hoping for some (hopefully) informed opinions...

I'd rate it right up there with Justin Timberlake's outdoors season in the summer of 2006, bringing sexy back.

But srsly, too soon to know. Hard to compare apples to oranges (broken backs to shattered arms), huge success to triumphant return (championship to say a win here and there). Who-knows-no-hashtag.

I'd say it depends on how he does. Henry came back, broke both wrists at the very same track, then won an outdoor title. The question is a good one, but the events to answer it with any type of accuracy haven't happened yet. #hesgottawin #dunnoyet

If he comes back the same Ken, and I really, really hope he does. I'd liken it to RV's comeback after his 2010 crash more than Trey's string of injuries.

I am inclined to agree; having suffered back injuries myself...but his arm was/is really bad. We cannot ride without either...back or arm in their full use.

In response to the title of this thread, "if he makes it back", .....he'll be lucky. Devastating injury, nobody knows that better than he. Props for the power of positive thinking. I hope you do.

I'm also not sure we've heard the whole story on how bad it was.

I was about to mention this, I don't think RV's injury was as severe but he did all his winning after which is extremely impressive.

exactly, sorry I used the F word but I think there was a point where they were not sure they could even save his arm.

He will be the first racer in history to compete in the 450 class with a baby arm.

Villopoto just broke tib/fib and ankle. That is not even close to Ken's injury. Ken almost lost his arm.

Trey canard and Doug Henry ? What are you smoking? These two should not be compared. Trey has not done much in the big bike class. I am not bashing on Trey,as he is a great for the sport but I would put money on js7 making a come back before trey

Not to take anything away from Henry because dude was a stud but comparing a 1996 comeback to a comeback now and gauging the success of said comeback is largely unfair. I say this because of the level of the athletes in the sport now.

I think it would be more like Bob Hannah's severely broken leg in a water skiing accident.

Although Hannah came back and won races......he was never able to put enough wins together to win another championship.
