That’s 5 years between titles... pretty big stretch.

Dunge did the same for SX but this is longest I could think of off the top of my head for Mx?

Anyone else?

I think your right . I'm not sure of any riders that have a gap like that in titles.

Also if DF14 doesn't win this championship it chips is stock down a bit.

I think Dylan will be okay either way.

It'd be fairly huge for Jeremy Martin to win it. It'd cap an amazing comeback story.

Yep good call. I think that would be longest in MX... unless there is an old-timer who did more.

Where's DC when you need him!?

I'll have to eat some crow if he does. I said in a post a while back his championship days were behind him. I still think Ferrandis is a level above but he keeps on getting lousy starts. I also thought a few other guys would be much more of a threat. JMart is being rock solid while everyone else is wildly inconsistent.

Henry from 94 125 title to 98 250 National title.
Albertyn 94 250 world title to 1999 250 National title. (Edited)

Longest gap between any titles would be Brad Lackey 1972 500 National Champ to 1982 500 World Champ.

I hope he wins it. There is no quit in that dude.

Really wouldn't mind seeing DF win it either, that dude shreds.

Wasn’t Albee already over here in the states in 95? He won the world title in 94 and then came here in 95. That would put him at the same 5 year gap as JMart

Is that any title as in first and last? Or last and newest? Don't really know loads about Lackey's career.

Would JMart be the oldest 125/250 champ or does Dowd hold that one by a long shot?

You are correct. Albee was here in 95. So 94-99.

Gap between titles. Lackey could have won more AMA titles, but went to conquer the world. Took him 10 years. But he did it.

Yeah but still a national title... The Albee one is quite cool.

Any time a guy doesn't basically repeat or really close thereafter the window is often shut.

Reedy has 4 years, Dungey 5, both in SX.

I was thinking the same thing last week. Definitely the longest stretch keeping within the 125/250F class.

To me, this JM6 vs DF14 battle seems a lot like the Cooper vs Bayle battle in 1990.

I find myself once again rooting for the underdog.

Ferrandis is signed, its about bonus money and pride for him.

Im a big Jmart fan & it would be cool to see him win the title again this year esp after such a nasty back injury.
But to answer the title “if JMart wins it”, personally i think he should be forced to move up. He will have won 3 250 outdoor titles & finished runner up one time. He has also has 3 250 sx overall championship podiums & was well on his way to another one this year before he went home to avoid getting moved up. I know if he moves up he wont make as much money because he makes more finishing top 3 in 250s than top 10 in 450s. But that makes it harder for the younger guys coming in to get a ride & earn a living.

It would make a million-dollar story if he wins the title.
I'll be rooting for him.

If we're speaking Motocross only yes, but he won two Supercross titles in between (2005 & 2006)

I was just counting national titles, the stuff that gets you a signal digit number.

The bonuses from those regional titles cash just fine.
