I'm on the road driving a van to San Francisco, so I decided to visit LL's and take some photos and video

I can't edit and sorry for the quality, it was also super foggy.

I was told there was some Yamaha pow wow or something over the weekend, so I coincidentally saw the RacerX Pick up truck leaving with a bike in back.

I went in expecting the absolute worst, and while it's bad, it isn't that bad....track and property wise

The worst is the rocks,,,,the river rock is all over the track and start area.....over half that start is buried in small river rock

I tried to keep all the videos short, about 30 seconds

First two pics show how bad the rocks are in the start area and straight, it also goes all the way through the first few turns

This road repair is where the ENTIRE ROAD WASHED OUT going to Loretta's home and the little visitor center and post office.

That was my wife and I in the Racer X truck. Originally Yamaha had their XTR Challenge UTV event scheduled for this past weekend, which a few of us from MX Sports typically help out with. Naturally the event was cancelled a while back, but we still made the trip down for the weekend. There was some volunteer work going on in Waverly through the weekend, and I also helped Anthony Brutto from the ranch get the trails marked for their trail ride in a couple weeks (hence the bike in the back)

The track will be put back together and ready to go for next year, it will take some time and a lot of work but it’ll come together. What will take much longer and much more work is what the folks in Waverly have been dealt. Photos and videos really don’t do much justice, and it really doesn’t even sink in until you see it in person. I’ve been to beaches after hurricanes that weren’t as devastated as Waverly is, and I really don’t even have words for it. I would encourage anyone with some free time to go volunteer to help out. There’s a group called Inspiritus who is operating out of one of the shopping centers in Waverly (they’re in what was the Shop n Save across from the Imperial Lodge Motel and Lances Pizza). You can just show up and sign up to help for a day, multiple days, or even just a few hours. It’s not easy work by no means, but they definitely need the help.

The Ranch had to cancel the rest of their events for the year, but they’re still going ahead with the trail ride October 14-17. I rode the entire main loop a couple of times this weekend, and the folks from Middle Tennessee Dirt Riders are helping out as well putting in some optional additional single track sections. Even if you’re not a big trail rider, I highly suggest checking it out. Everyone I’ve ever talked to who’s attended these rides always have great things to say. This will be the first time I’ve attended the actual ride, but between GNCCs in the past, and trail riding there at other times I can say the place is really a lot of fun to ride. All the info is on the ranch’s website if interested.

Sure hope a recovery is in the future for this place. I hate to see so much distraction to such a great facility. What a loose!

You were just passing the pilot and crossing 40 to I guess head east.

I only made a quick pass through town, and you are right it is bad but a lot has also been cleaned up.

I kept looking around thinking of this as an opportunity to build back better and more well planned.

If it’s anything like the more recent Build Back Better plans than it’ll be a disaster.

Great pics Dave , and thanks. I'm still blown away on how much damage and life that got destroyed there. Like mentioned before....thank God it didn't happen a week earlier during the races. It would of been really , really bad for everyone parked in the pits.

I build houses for a living. More people get ripped off after natural disasters from contractors than receive quality work by humans with Morals. I just got a call from a nice women with 2 leaking chimneys, they were repaired 3 years ago after the hurricane. I met her yesterday at this 3 story historic home in the downtown historic district. I walk in her neighbors back yard and look up to see both chimneys are missing counter flashing on the front were the roof meets it.

I had to be the bad guy and basically tell her she got robbed. Be careful folks.

I went threw the area of LL aprox 8am to 11 the morning of the flood . I took off from the st line of Ky. No rain there or in Nashville. But the 60 mi stretch on i40 it was a very heavy rain . I could see the water flooding threw the woods extremely fast and hoping I could make it threw b4 the water was over i40. I knew anyone down river was a gonner diff police had sirens on but you couldn’t see to drive over 25mph, it looked real bad. And on a Saturday some people could b sleeping in. I had to get fuel at the pilot exit for LL. With a rain jacket on water poured down my back. I talked to a few people they all said the same thing aprox 75 mi stretch threw there it’s common to get severe weather. I,ve seen numerous floods since the 80,s hhg drilling under rivers etc and there is nothing you can do but get lucky and not be in the area. Even a dam either you flood people above or below the dam.

Thanks, but I went the northern route this time.

Done I-10 and I-40 enough, went north up to I-70 and then I-80

I'm on Golden, CO right now, near the Lakewood track.

My daughter that many of you have met is moving to San Francisco, so I was gladly tasked with the job of delivering her SUV to California from Florida

I've been having some fun taking pictures of my new Granddaughter's handmade Bunny at stops along the way.

Bunny has been my companion the whole way

I'm going to the trail ride next week and went to my first one in spring. The MTDR group put on a great event. I also went to the ranch with some guys from the Memphis Motorcycle Club to help with clean up. It was really bad a few weeks after the flood. We met an older couple camping in a borrowed travel trailer at the ranch who lost everything. They also told us there were looters in boats. WTF is wrong with people? The pictures you shared look like a huge improvement from when we were there. Waverly will take a lot to get back to even somewhat normal. Keep those folks in your prayers.

Yup, our first grandchild.

Amaris Rose

This was so worth it. We're in a nice airbnb on the ocean near Mavericks in Montara.

Beautiful place
