Seen, yes...rode, no. I've only ridden a handful of bikes older than about 1997, when I got my LEM 50cc. The oldest bike I've ridden was a 1981 (maybe '82) YZ100. I think I've only ridden one other bike from the 80's other than that, which was an '88 CR500.

Back to what we started on, my first bike (1989 or so) was a 73 DT 100 Yamaha (“enduro” back then, now a dual sport). Got it for 50.00 as a non runner. Dad and I snuck it in (mom was totally against me riding even though Dad raced mx all through the 70’s). So front heavy, you literally had to lock your legs back and sit on the rear fender to keep from going over the bars on a jump...quickly moved on to an 87 YZ250, then a 90 CR125 (first new bike), then off to the races, figuratively and literally...

I understood everything you typed and I don't even drink.
Not sure what that says about me but no, never rode a Montessa. However I was born when JFK was president and have rode some Bultacos including one that seemed to have random neutrals throughout the gearbox, not fun. And a commie built 75 CZ 400 when I was 13 . Very fast and very scary, hard to imagine people did 45 min motos on those vibrating monsters.

And there goes Jeffro. One of God's own prototypes. A super high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

In high school one of my bf's had a 250 Montesa in a Rickman frame, not much travel but one hell of a motor. It was a awesome flat tracker.

I got started on a Rupp Roadster minibike in 1971. We had a 3 acre farm and Dad let me build a little track . I rode the wheels off that bike.
