Back story, I'm a graphic designer by trade but this is my second attempt at using a real airbrush (as opposed to the one in photoshop). Hopefully it's obvious but the design is based around the South African flag and takes inspiration from a helmet I saw Rattray wearing years ago.

Really good work. Now just imagine how much easier your second helmet paint job will be...a lot of lessons learned on the first one?

That is absolutely awesome. It makes me want to go buy a white helmet and then follow you around begging until you agree to paint it for me.

Sick paint job, but i have to show my OCD here. The lines not being even on the forehead and in other areas would really irk me! Blush

Nice job! Learn your clear, and it'll take a bit, but you are well on your way by the looks of things. Again, nice work!

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the support and feedback. The first one I did I was obsessed with it being symmetrical and making it flawless. For this one I decided to embrace the asymmetry and the natural flaws that come with using real paint. That said, I still have a lot to learn with this and there were definitely things I figured out by the end that I would have done differently had I known them when starting the helmet.

Good work. It's a fun hobby. I'm still learning a lot and I've done 5 or 6 helmets. The clear coat looks good. How do you do your clear? I just got a buffer for mine and it helps a ton.

That's pretty bad ass dude! How did you get the effect on the dark color in the yellow area?

Thanks! For the clear I use spraymax 2k. It has a hardening agent which when cured makes it really tough and also resistant to solvents.

Thanks dude! On the back of the helmet? Just some tissue dipped in some paint and then lightly dabbed on the surface of the helmet.
