You could get a set of WP AER forks for your 16 not very many changes between a 16/17 but forks being the big major upgrade. Lot ppl by cv or Ohlins inserts as well. If you do the air box with about 5- 1in holes and 16 125 air filter cage will wake it up also.

Think brand new at full price there $2,500 but sometimes see them go pretty low occasionally at $2,500 you could do Ohlins inserts and rear shock setup also.

The forks are a big change...BUT , the chassis itself is a huge change as well , and work in tandem with the forks. You could slap on a set of AER 48's on the front of a 16' , but it still won't be as good as what a 17' would be.

I have also recently rode SX-F 250 '17 and here are my thoughts.

The bike is very nimble and easy to ride, but I just can't agree with any of you that the forks are good. I have to admit I never rode the CV version, but compared to the SSS, they are no where close.

Engine is really powerful on top, but there is almost no bottom power and I'm a believer that you don't ride four strokes on top for various reasons (suspension works better, better traction and so on..).

The brakes and clutch are just perfect. I doubt any Japanese bike will have it like that in the coming years. What SSS is in the suspension department, that is what magura clutch and brakes are in their own segments. If KTM would make 250 with more bottom power and improve the suspension, I would buy it this second.

Also worth noting. I help from time to time my friend who has mx service shop. He already had to fix 3-4 AER forks due to broken seal inside the forks. What is causing that is unknown to us, but every 10-20 hours they need to be repaired. Whether or not this is isolated case I don't know, but that is what we found.

about the power feeling
the sxf 250 2017 comes with 14/51 , and the riders dont know why they made it like that its big mistake
you should change to 13/50 or 13/51 and you will feel hows strong this bike and not just in top

and what is the sss suspenion? which bike come with them? or its an upgrade
because aer fork are stock suspension

In the other thread about your exhaust you said you were injured and had to sell your Husky. You're a quick healer. It's another Festivus miracle!

What is the chassis change? I was unaware KTM changed anything but the forks and triple clamps from 2016 to 2017.

I had Clay Olson @ PDR Performance install SSS with a RaceTech Gold Valve in my '16 FC 450.
Spectacular results!
Notice the Yamaha caps in the 4CS upper tubes.

Facebook gave me one of those "memory" posts this morning from 2015. I found this comment I made pretty comical and don't even remember saying it, but it's pretty fitting for this thread.

Thanks a lot WP for putting .25mm shims in your new forks... "Your 4cs forks are harsh? maybe someone should tell WP to stop using shock shims in their base valves!"

250 sx didn't get the new chassis until 17. 250 sxf got the new chassis in 16. Right ?

Oh dang my bad. I thought they did the change in 17'. I was going off the notion of the 250 2 stroke got the major change in 17'. Sorry about that.

I see the mistake was corrected..

I did Dal Saggio Inserts in my 16 KTM 350 and they kick the shit out of every pair of SSS forks I've owned... Even the AER forks we've compared them to don't stand a chance... So plush, firm and progressive with no bottoming and a ton of versatility...
