Sometimes he threatens to quit in the near future. Saying things to the effect of...I don’t see myself doing this much longer…or, If I ever find myself asking Evan Ferry about his suspension set-up, just kill me. I got news for you Steve; you’re too good at what you do….and after what I saw last night, apparently so is the kid of the ex-factory rider you used to tune for! The day you dread is coming soon. LOL!

IMO he's the best moto journalist we have. I never get why people dis Matthes...or would give a thumbs up to such a thing.

Timmy used to race my local track when I was a kid. Evan is really amazing too. Good times ahead.
I am the lone Kawi at the end and my best friends ever is Chris Showalter in second in the short clip. I'm old.

Good old Lockhart stadium. Many a Saturday night I raced there. Some times we had a split gate between the 80cc A & B class and I got lapped by Ferry every time.

Somehow Pete Scalzo, race promoter and the guy interviewing Ferry and calling the action, got the races filmed and aired on the local cable access channel. My dad got in touch with the cable company and bought a VHS copy of the the tape that these clips came from and I must have watched it 10,000 times. One of my races was on that tape and when I tried to jump the big double by the grandstand and cased it you can see my silencer fall off. Woohoo

I'm going to respectfully disagree. Gonna have to go with Weege as the best moto journalist.

Matthes is the best at offering up opinions...some good...some bad...some with merit...and some without.

Just because you're the loudest guy in the room, doesn't mean you're the smartest. haha

The "i'm quitting soon" is shtick... Yes I'm sure he's tired of the travel at this point; but PulpMX has become somewhat of moto-media empire.. Steve's reach is quite far; and the fact that Weege and Daniel Blair (not to mention DC) are his friends rather than adversaries only further solidifies his position atop the moto media industry

I've listened to probably thousands of hours of Matthes content (PulpMX shows, race reviews, rider podcasts, etc etc etc) - and could not be more thankful for the *free* moto content he diligently grinds out every, single, week. (awaiting the MEC review podcast right now! refresh.....refresh... refresh... WTF Steve come on!!... refresh..)

That double must have been a bit smaller in 87/88 when I was trying it jump it on my YZ80!

@ Zuagg.... Then we can agree to disagree on that. Simple enough. Your last comment was just bizarre. Loudest guy?.... I messed up in quoting you here but I didn’t use all caps Not sure what you mean by that comment

He means Steve is the loud guy. Weege is great, but Steve provides a lot more content and insider info. They are both great at what they do. Don't see why we need to rank them.

Man, AC's personality is such a breath of fresh air in the 450 class. Him and Matthes feed off each other so well.
