I am a big guy and I am looking into getting some new gear. I don't want my gear to be skin tight on me. I wear a 40 pant and XXL jersey. What are some gear brands that fit on the bigger side. I have been away from the sport for almost two years and I don't know what to get!

TLD are pretty generous there bud. I'm tall more than fat tho could go or a jog or three right now.

Shift/Fox/Thor all seem to fit small to me. I'm always a size up.

Moose def does gear for big boys too... I think I've read Fly is the same.

Im bigger than you, and I wear Answer pants. They are very comfortable. I hear the Moose stuff is good, and has bigger sizes.

Who makes knee pads or guards that are actually big enough to fit around fat thighs. My EVS ones are no where near large enough. The top elastic strap barely makes it around my leg.

Any jeans I wear, 38 is a little loose, but my Fox pants that are 38 run a little small. My XL jersey fits a little snug, but better than the pants.

Fly Kinetic. I'm 6'6 and 255, wear a size 40 in most street clothes and the Fly stuff is the best I've tried. Get a size 38, they have a ton of waist adjustability.

6''2 320LBS With 40'' pants XXXL jersey, Fly, MSR or Moose have been great over the years. FLY is what i wear now and really like how it looks like new kids stuff but is big enough for my fat ass.

Glad this thread got started.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a good boot for a fatty? I had the Fox boots and i couldnt close the claps around my calves. Now I just ride with my work boots and that just looks and feels gay, not to add that they dont provide the best support during riding.

I'm 6'2" and around 310 over the winter and 270-280 in the summer. I wear answer since that's what my dealer gives me the special deal on. Seems they keep getting smaller over the years. My answer syncron sx 40 pants and 2xl jersy from 2008 still fits good. For 2012 and 2013 there stuff seems smaller especially in the knee and thigh area. I had to get a 3xl jersey and 42 pants and have the waist taken in so they fit right.

As folks are saying...the various brands fit differently. If you can, go try some stuff on to see how it fits. I'm wearing TLD & it fits just like people have said. Same goes for the Gaerne's.

I can concur. I'm 39 and have been playing hockey since the age of 4 or 5 so I have large calves (I just had them measured due to atrophy from a surgery and they were right around 18 inches to give you an idea) and I've had no trouble with any Gaerne boot I've ever had. I don't wear knee braces though, just fox knee pads but I still have plenty of adjustment left in the top 2 buckles.

I'm glad you all have pitched in your opinions. I was looking at the TLD stuff but I'm worried it could be a little tight. I did see that Thor makes up to a 44 in on certain sizes. I would like to go somewhere but all our shops rapid here only carry Fox. I tried a 38 and they fit like a 32 haha. I could feel the balls about to blow out in them!

In your case it's not what you want as to what will fit you. Try Seven there gear is made differently,a cut above you could say.

It's also very slim cut, tight fitting gear, no fat man wants to be wrapped up like glad wrap!

Honestly dude, TLD stuff is great, runs a good size and the quality is boss.

I've not had nor heard much good things about thor quality over the years.

Fly makes some good gear for big guys there black f16 gear comes In really big sizes and even though cheaper gear holds up awesome and has a Velcro elastic adjustment on waist that cheap pants rarely have.

Gaerne sg12 or sidi are best boots for big legs you can adjust them if needed but probably won't need too cause they have enough room already especially the sg12.

For those that wear neck braces which ones are you wearing. I have very broad/wide shoulders and chest. I wear a leatt it wouldn't fit with either of the size spacer pieces so they shipped me the biggest they have. I be wearing it for a few years now. It works but still doesn't quite sit flat on my shoulders.

I wear Atlas braces they have a ton of adjustablitlity im the same way i have tall and wide shoulders and I think the Atlas has the most adjustability and they also make a wide body kit for the brace in case your a bit more wide shouldered and chested than it adjusts to. its the same brace Ryan Villopoto wears I've worn mine with both a chest protector and without works good with both it also has a back separation on the scoop and its flat so your head doesn't hit it while looking ahead it moves with your body and it sets flatter on the shoulder that way. I can't even tell mines there
