Would there be any 450 guys that move down to make more money?

Say Barcia doesn’t get his contract renewed. What would be the thought of Barcia jumping to a Star 250? Shorter season and extends career. Everything about him screams 250.

Same could even be said about Baggett..

The 250’s already have the best racing in my opinion. Throw a couple more front runners in there, and it would be unreal.

Barcia on a Star 250 would be the champion for the next 3 years.

How about a complete re think of SX. No more 450's, factory (modified all you want) 250's in the premier class and then a true feeder class with production based 250s along with a rule that moves you up after a certain amount of time with no exceptions.

Its comments like this that show who has a clue about the sport , and those who have none.

Also, if they want to sell fourfiddys they need to race them.

Not that they don’t already, but I feel that this method would give the factory teams even more of an equipment advantage over private teams and privateers.

I'm not so sure that it's necessary for them to be raced in SX for them to sell. Outdoors yes and off road yes but I don't think sales would take a hit if they didn't run them in SX.

I've never really subscribed to this argument because the well funded teams will always have an advantage well beyond the equipment itself. I think it would be fun to let them really build some hot rods just for a premier SX class. I'm just spit balling and you know it will never happen anyway lol.

Yes. Lets stop using a bike that has enough power, and use one that doesnt, then spend loads of money till its on the edge of destruction after 5 hours.. thats good for the sport .

Makes sense to me. Then the feeder class can be based on skill and not on who can squeeze that extra .5 horsepower out of the motor. The 250s have enough power to keep the wow factor of the big jumps, but are small enough to be manageable in a bad situation. Yes, the cream will always rise to the top, regardless of stock/mod. It just provides a spot for a true privateer to not have the disadvantages of racing against guys that are already better, but also have superior equipment. I like it Mike!!! As you said, it will never happen. Fun to talk about.

So what we have now, but 250 instead of 450 for the premier class, and stock 250 instead of 250 for the newbie class. The "complete re-think" is just changing the bikes for the existing classes.

Call me crazy but i think they need to go to 3 classes:

450SX national series

250SX national series, no age or point out restrictions, same bike rules as current.

250SX regional series, point out restrictions, limited modifications to narrow gap from factory supported bikes to privateer bikes.

125 class 16-18. (east vs west)
250f class open. ( no east vs west )
450f class open.

i think since they moved away from the 125 class it made it harder for kids coming through to get use to the SX tracks.
250f with 56hp is some serious power for young kids on these full blown sx tracks.

125 class gives these kids a chance to come through and gain the skills and a chance to learn the tracks.
probably better battles and less injury's too.
