Hey!
just bought a Tc 50 for my son, he has driven a crf50 which he has now grown out of. he thinks tc50 sounds so much. is there any way to lower the sound?
will a new muffler help? Ex. FMF Powercore 2 Silencer

You didn't say if it was new or used. If used I would repack he silencer. One other option may be to have him ride with ear plugs if it bothers him that much.

Been down the TC50 road and bought a spark arrestor to use for a couple trips to the desert. It definitely lowered the sound a bit and we didn't notice any performance difference.

A couple things to consider being a past TC50 owner, keep a spare stator in your tool box and a volt / ohms meter. Watch this video and become knowledgeable on how to check if the stator has gone bad and how to swap one out. It's easy to swap them and it's known and common issue with KTM/Husky 50's. Nothing worse than driving 2 hours to the track, only to have the stator go bad after your kids first moto.

The kicker return spring is the next problem area. Pax Racing sells a heavy duty kicker spring, and I highly recommend swapping out the stock spring, for the Pax HD spring. Also, Pax is a great source for TC50 parts.

Lastly, if your son has small hands, the ProTaper Micro Bars are a great investment!

Good luck!

FMF is not any quieter. I have 50's with both stock silencer and FMF and there is not much difference.

I would 2nd to question above. If used then the muffler probably needs repacked. They are crazy loud when the muffler needs repacking. Typically I have to repack every 25-30 hours. You can hear the pitch start to change when its due.

FYI for others on the Pro Taper bars. They currently really only work for the 2020 and older bikes and I'm working through the problems currently on the 21's.

The 21 bikes use the new 1 1/8" bar configuration so the Pro Taper's dont fit. You need to get Nihilio bar mounts for 7/8" bars to put them on. Also the 21 bikes have a different throttle configuration so the cam while it works is not the same as the new cam so there is a little bit of play and slack in the throttle with the pro taper setup on the 21's vs the 20's. I was going to look at also swapping to the Pax Micro Throttle setup to address that.

Good to know, I will say they were also a bit of a pain to get the throttle clamped on just right and the ends of the grips rip easily. When my son moved up to a YZ65, I opted to just stick with the stock handlebars.

highly recommend these throttle spacers for a new rider coming off a PW/etc slower bike, ecsp for the first bit of riding

https://www.g2ergo.com/shop/g2-carb-spacer-kit-ktm/

works just like a governor, limits how far the throttle slide can move. easy to pop one in and scale him down/up as needed. those little bikes make all their power at high rpm, so a 50-75% spacer will really keep any jumpiness down to a minimum , ecsp once you fine tune the clutch stall speed.

no one has mentioned it, but be sure to play with the clicks on that . faster kids = higher rev for takeoff, newer kid = lower rev. take a look at manual and notice the operable range of clicks available.

Electric model is amazing. I've had one for awhile and zero maintenance and no noise.

Just learned this one the hard way. Sitting here in my garage trying to figure out how ProTaper can sell this product for a 21. The clamps are not even close. Pretty frustrating
