Im hoping Husqvarna follows in KTM's footsteps and offers us all bikes that the other 4 wont... KTM is picking up steam fast and the bike sells department. I personally welcome the change, this sport needs variety ( small bikes to big bikes and everything in between). My first 125 was a 1998 Husqvarna CR125, that thing was awesome!

Wouldn't it technically have been more variety before KTM bought Husky? Husky was making a full range of 2-strokes and 4-strokes already that were different from everyone else. Now the MX line will basically be KTMs with slightly different plastic.

I think the money and effort KTM is pouring into it is great. It'll be nice to see another competitive bike out there. Has there been any word at all if the new Husky line will make it to US showrooms in '14 or do we have to wait another model year?

I don't get the whole notion of one off-road bike mfg. buying another and then selling clone bikes. Seems like a drain on resources and a diluting of the brand/sales.

Anybody have any insight as to the wisdom of this strategy?

diluting of the brand is a good thing. it's called cut-throat. KTM can put more brands on the line, and eventually a good portion of the starting line will be "KTM", without being orange, if that makes sense. defense contracting is the same way.

Think of it as a win-win for KTM. if a red/white bike beats an orange bike, it doesnt matter...KTM still wins.

word on the street is, Honda has caught on to the fact that Enduro models essentially fund two-stroke development for KTM, which allows them to put a line of two-strokes out there. with that being said, look for enduro model japanese two-strokes to start popping up.

also, this 300cc husky comes just in time for the MX3 switch to 300cc two-strokes.

In the recent Pit Bier interview he mentioned this 300cc Husky was designed for the new Euro championship class starting next year.

Quote from Pierer

When asked whether he was concerned the two brands might cannibalise each other's sales, he admitted there would be a slight effect.

Overall, however, the Husqvarna brand would help it take share away from Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Suzuki.

"It's never 1 plus 1 equals 3, but it's certainly 2.7, and there are still four Japanese brands from which there's plenty to grab."

Egg-zack-lee.

Can't wait to see them, even if it's a 300SX with red plastic.

Could this maybe be the new husky look? Kinda looks like it says 300 on the side plate and the front plate and fender looks a lot like a ktm.

Clones were very good for Husaberg sales. They tripled for us once they went away from the 70 degree engine. Most were riding something other than KTM. I have told them I want Husqvarna because the Bergs have been a nice compliment to KTM.

As a dealer will you be able to get these new '14 Husky's in stock or are the powers that be going to try and push the remaining '13 leftovers?

13 leftovers are being pushed as we speak sold as '14 models with BNG. You can get a '14 CR125 for $4000 right now, dealers have them in stock.

The new bikes will be '14.5 or early '15 models.

people want 2 strokes, Husqvarna will have what people want. Only 20% of moto x bikes sold are ever raced. I guessing but I bet
only 30% of the moto x bikes that hit the track are in cc specific classes, the other 70% are vet class etc. So ride a bike that is more
fun and less maintenance than a 4 stroke. The euros will build and sell them while the big 4 asian companies follow the ama down
another path.

I have been talking to the Husky rep. He called a couple of months ago and asked if I wanted any "red bikes". That's what they are calling the last of the Italian made units. I said let me know which bikes and what the prices were going to be. They were all gobbled up by current dealers. They are waiting now for the official press launch in October before they start setting up new dealers. The debut this weekend is the first look at the new Husqvarna.

We all raced Huskys in the early 2000's , a good friend had a dealership. I hope the brand makes a big comeback in the states.

My earliest motorcycle memories are of my dad riding me around on the tank of his 73 Husky CR250. They'll always be special to me and I may even buy one next year if I like what I see. It certainly doesn't hurt that my buddies shop will be carrying them either :-)
