I just watched the TV coverage this morning and figured that they missed two massive crashes... On the next to final lap, Chris Alldredge got out of shape coming out of the whoops into the finish line, launched to the side and hit the manager's tower in mid-air... he landed in the flat area next to the finish line table, dropping out of the sky hard and finally falling over...

His mechanic mentioned to me at the podium that his hip had taken a huge hit when he bounced off the tower and was "jacked up"... he was taken out on a backboard...

While this was going on, there were a few people in that area trying to help Chris and his bike, and some of the team managers had started coming down from the tower when Tyler Bowers had a similar moment happen. He got away from his bike safely, but it launched off the side of the finish line jump and landed right on the head of Dan Betley from team Honda... He was laying on the ground, holding his head after the impact... The bike bounced and took out another track worker as well. The track worker was up and walking around afterwards, but with a pretty good limp and hunched over in back pain.

Get well soon to Chris, Dan, and the track worker that was hit...

Well I just got confirmation that Dan is okay... Ding on his head and some stitches on his arm... I can't believe his injuries aren't worse considering how hard he was hit. A bike falling about 20 feet out of the air and onto your head is a horrible way to have the SX season end.

Michael,

I am happy Dan is Ok... we watched that happen and it didn't look to good... it didn't seem like medical personnel were too terribly concerned either at first and finally ran over after he was on the ground for awhile.

Bowers was actually by his side after too, which was cool to see the genuine concern after the impact!

Tyler ran straight to Dan as soon as he stood up from his bail-off. I've been around Tyler quite a bit the past few years and although he has a bit of a rough reputation, he really is a good guy and I can bet you he felt awful right then.

I knew it had to have been brought up, ha. Between having no internet in the press box all day of the race, finally getting it after and staying up until nearly 3am to do the after race interviews and Pit Bits... then waking up at 7am, grabbing breakfast, and driving straight home from Vegas... I've been a little disconnected from the forum.. Laughing

Sounds scary. Glad everyone will recover from it.

I know it was a mud race so they deserve a little slack but the TV broadcast missed most of the racing Saturday night, especially during the mains. We saw maybe 10% of the Baggett Reed battle.

It happened on the last lap when all the cameras were tracking Malcolm Stewart and Cooper Webb for the title coverage.

Thank God Dan Betley will be okay. Crazy and Vegas go hand in hand. 20 years ago Shane Trittler crashed flew through the air and landed on the back of 125cc leader Damon Huffman's bike. Huffman had to stop to let Trittler off.

If it hasn't happened before it will happen in Vegas

I was there that night and remember seeing that. Craziest thing I've ever seen during a pro race.

I'm amazed Ralph & Jeff...or even RC never commented on the accidents. I can see the cameramen just doing what they're told and tracking the leaders, but...those guys had to have witnessed the whole thing. Blink

A lot of the time the announcers are looking at the monitors, if not they will be talking about things happening that the cameras are not showing. RC had a habit of announcing something going on on the track that the cameras weren't picking up when he use to be in the booth.

Deep mud + ruts + fighting for a championship and the last race....some wild things were bound to happen.

Glad to hear everyone is going to be ok. Sounds like a scary deal. Really bummed about Chris and his hip. And that was really cool of Tyler to go check on and even stick around to see how Dan was doing. I know Tyler is a good dude , even though aggressive on the track....he's a class act.

Correct.. Heck, in outdoors they're in a truck I believe and can't see the track.

In Supercross they are on the club level, but are in a room with monitors and can only see a bit of the track if they look away... Which as you mentioned RC did a few times and it would be a bit confusing what he was surprised about or reacted to.

Yeah this was the craziest thing I saw all night, surprised there isn't much more about it. I think Bowers bike hit the asterisk mule also.
